Hi everyone - Well I guess I'm going to bite the bullet and start my first ever PTR. I'm not sure how good I'll be at this but I guess we're gonna find out.
Let's introduce the characters for this event :

Disney2010032.jpg

That is me, Dawn and my DS Jack. This picture was taken almost exactly 1 year ago on our last trip. It was quick a Mother/Son trip so we could reconnect after DD was born.

This is DD, Meadow. This will be her first trip to Disney. I think(hope) that she has inherited the Disney bug. Meadow LOVES Mickey and will drop everything to do the Hot Dog Dance.

Last but not least is DH, Rich.

He is not a big crowd fan so Disney is not one of his favorite places but I really do think he gets the "magic" of it .

Coming up : How this trip came to be.

How this trip came to be.
Well let me just start out by saying I HATE RUNNING! That said, I LOVE DISNEY! So, the other night DH and I were chatting with a neighbor, who is an avid runner, and she was saying how she really wanted to do one of the Disney races. I agreed that they did really look like a lot of fun but since I don't like running doubted I would ever try one.

Fast forward to Mother's Day. Now Rich knows that I have not been happy about my post baby weight again and we both know that the only way to get rid of that post baby weight gain is cardio. What is a great form of cardio ? Well running of coarse. :sad2: So....Rich says to me "If you run a Disney 5k, we can go to Disney this year.":woohoo::banana: REALLY? :yay: Our original plan was to wait until Nov. of 2012. right before Meadow turns 3. But if it takes me running to go this year...well I'm running!

Wish me luck :thumbsup2 I'm goona need it.:rotfl:

pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust: for the running.

And :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: you are going to Disney this year.

I'm so excited for you guys and can't wait to follow all of your plans.

I'm right there with you on the baby-weight issue. My mother and I are sort of planning on the Princess 1/2 in Feb as our goal! Which race are you running? The Wine and Dine?

Can't wait to find out the rest...

:welcome: Yeah you found me. I'm excited to be bringing Meadow for the first time. Even tho she won't remember her first trip, I will.:lovestruc
Plans, those are coming soon. :rolleyes1

:welcome: I'm running the Wine and Dine 5k . If I actually learn to like running a Princess 1/2 may be in my future. Right now I need to start small and I CAN'T back out. DH has threatened divorce if I back out :lmao:

Dawn, both of our boys were just a little over 18 months when we first took them to Disney, and both of them remember little tidbits of the trip. I'm sure Meadow will remember certain things. :)

I hope so. Jack was 3 his first trip and doesn't remember much. I was really young( 1 maybe) my first trips to DL and I remember a lot, but we also lived 5 minutes from DL and went a lot. Time will tell.

I am looking forward to reading your PTR because I am considering this when we head back to the U.S. in 2012. I too will have some post-baby weight gain at that point that I will need some motivation to get rid of. What better motivation then Disney?! :thumbsup2

GIRL!! We have GOT to talk!! NO! Seriously, I am PMing you right now!!!

:welcome: I agree! I'm so tired from toddler chasing that I think a Disney trip is about the only thing that could motivate me.

Joining in! how exciting. You CAN do it. Especially for a Disney trip!!!!:thumbsup2

I am doing the Couch to 5k program and I have always HATED running. I am on Week 9 now (last week :yay::yay::yay:) and it's going great and I can say something I never thought I would say, I kinda like running now...kinda. Enough to keep going. The results are great shape wise. I was coerced into signing up for a 5k in June and now that friend is probably not even gonna do it, but I am signed up so I have no choice but to keep going. I'd love to do a Disney run someday, looks like fun!

Joining in. Good Luck with your 5k race. You kiddies are very cute.

:welcome: Thank you for the encouragement. It is much needed and much appreciated. I am also doing the C25K. I just completed day 2 this morning. I really like it so far. Just hoping I can get myself to the 5K part with decent spend in time for the Disney 5k.

Joining in. Good Luck with your 5k race. You kiddies are very cute.

:welcome: Thanks and thank you.

Have you checked out the WISH board, there is a C25K thread for encouragement and support. Everyone is a different places and it's just nice to get feedback and advise as you go through the program.

Thanks. Gonna check it out now.:thumbsup2

I'm here!!!!!!!!!! :yay: Going back to read it all now. (thank you for pointing it out on my TR too! I saw you mentioned it on FB but I hadn't found it over here yet! :thumbsup2)

I've seen your kids on Facebook and all -but I just gotta say it-you have the cutest kids! LOVE the red hair (of course!) and that picture of Meadow with Mickey and Minnie is just adorable. Love her big grin! Methinks you are correct when you say Meadow is a Disney fan-doing the hot dog dance is a sure sign. :cutie:

I love that your DH tempted you with a Disney trip to run. And like I mentioned, I too HATE running-I always have. When I was in elementary school a little person was in my class-her name was Jenny. Her legs are about half the length of mine....and she would beat me running! No joke! I'm still very slow, but the C25K plan helped me not hate running as much...and I actually sorta like it now. I don't have the urge to do it ever, but once I make myself, it's not so bad. The first couple weeks running 1 minute (or whatever it is...I cannot remember) seemed HORRID! I remember gasping for breath! Now I can run 20-25 without stopping and I don't feel like I'm going to die when it's over. :faint: I never, ever, ever thought I'd be able to say that!

A Disney race will be so much fun too! You can do it! You can do it! (and I mentioned to Joe about wanting to do that race and he said "Maybe you can go solo again then." I'm just letting it sit, we'll see what happens...)

Thank you. I think their cute too.;) Isn't funny how once you have a redhead you seem to really notice everyone else's redhead? I hope Meadow does have the Disney bug because Jack is kinda on the fence. :scared1:

I'm sorry but that story made me laugh :rotfl: I'm actually finding the first week to be not so bad. Hopefully that is a good sign.

Oh you should::yes:: Aren't their a few of us running? We could do a big DIS meet run.

Well I finished my first week of the couch 2 5K this morning. I have to say it really wasn't THAT bad. The hardest part was losing a hour of sleep. I'm kinda exhausted now. I must work on getting off the DIS and going to bed earlier if this plan is going to work out. SPeaking of plans ... I have my Disney dates. We are going to be staying at The POP from Sept. 28 - Oct. 2 Just a quick trip but a trip none the less. Thank You Brook for being my TA extraordinaire.
