I saw this young girl in the isle at our grocery store feeding her baby some food out of a baby food jar. She hid the empty jar behind other ones. My first thought was oh my she is stealing. But when I saw how that baby wolfed it down I realized this was one time I should keep my mouth shut. :sad2:

It is so hard sometimes to make a judgement call when you see someone stealing. Even though stealing is wrong.

This broke my heart when I read it. I wouldn't have said anything either.

"When I was little, we used to "sample" the grapes and there were candies that you could pay a nickel for on the honor system if you just wanted to get a couple instead of a bag...not done today for obvious reasons.....In a way, I can understand the older generation...I think things used to be different to a point...."

That makes me think of the Fruitcake Lady...someone asked her if it was OK to taste the grapes in the grocery store. She said "You know d@mn good and well what a grape tastes like." I always think of this when I see someone sampling grapes.

Sorry, I didn't see the "quote" function at the bottom of the posts...duh...I just now saw it...

Wow. This one really made me stop and think. I don't think I could have said anything either. That poor girl and her baby. :guilty:

YAY! I just realized that the tag fairy tagged me from this very thread! I knew when I posted that, if she saw me I would be in big trouble. :sunny:

Thanks tag fairy!!!

Working in a grocery store I see people who sample things all the time, we usually see the remains of their sampling on the shelves, shoved behind things, stuffed in magazne racks, etc.

We also have an eat in area where their are condiments, plastic silverware, paperplates and napkins. There are a few people who think those things are out for them to replenish their supplies at home.

When everyone is complaining about the fact that stores keep raising prices think back on this thread. When the cost of us doing business increases due to theft of food and supplies it will get passed on to the customer. (I know not all prices are raised because of this, but it is a factor in a small way)

I was in Shop Rite the other day and my little guy just had to have this water gun  So I put it up and it doesn't scan, so the cashier is looking for the bar code and the front of the package says "try me", so she says this must be free, it says "try me". I swear to God she was dead serious and put it in the bag :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hey tinknme-love the signature. Can you tell me where those metal ears are?

I have a picture with me standing on them on my class trip back in 1988. In all my trips to Disney (10 and counting) I haven't found these metal ears.

Wow...these stories really shock me!!

Do people not realize this is STEALING.

It is like going into someone's house and taking their stuff.

I don't get it.

I work at a movie theatre. We have salt shakers, the big ones, on the counters. We have to order a box every few months because they disappear. I guess people bring them into the theatres (we leave one at each register), but we never find them when cleaning....weirdest thing.

I CONFESS!!!! i am in possession of the following : about 4 sets of salt/pepper shakers (the tenie weanie ones they put on room service trays), at least a dozen small condiment cups (again from room service trays) and lord knows how many corkscrews (you guessed it-room service). in my defense-i think part of it is because when i worked in the hospitality industry we bulked this stuff (budgeting/bookkeeping wise) under "spoilage"-the stuff was so cheaply made the minute a scratch or mar appeared on it we had to toss it out (so we bought it in the same mindset as paper products). so when we go to a resort that has both room service and some form of kitchenette i have a habit of grabbing the marred/chipped ones off the room service tray (from our order) and sticking them in the room kitchenette cabinet to use during our stay and some have traveled home to my personal kitchen. with corkscrews i have absolutly no need for more than one, but 9 times out of 10 when the wait staff comes to pick up they offer it to us to keep (our hotel did the same-had the resort name on the side and we figured it was a good advertising method) and i'm always figuring i'll pass it on to someone when we get home....needless to say if i ever have a garage sale the neighbors will think i have major wine and condiment addictions :teeth:

Whenever at DLP, many people (mostly the ones from Holland) stock up on food during the (included in the price) breakfast buffet. They come prepared with ziplocks, Tupperware boxes, ... I am sure they are able to eat breakfast from everything they take (rolls, croissants, ham, cheese, butter, tea, honey, sugar, ...) for at least 3 weeks after being back home from DLP!

Now...I wonder where she got all those sheets and pillow cases from?????? ;)

I have a garage full of sheets from Baptist Hospital here in Little Rock. Everytime they would bring my mother home from the hospital by ambulance, they left the sheets and refused to take them back.

A close friend of mine is on the hospital board of directors, I asked her if I could return them and she said no since they had been out of the hospital they would not take them back.

Confession time! Joe has a bad, bad, bad habit. He swipes teaspoons from restaurants. I'm not sure why. I always know he's about to do it though when I hear him say, "Hummm..." and then he fiddles with the spoon, weighing it in each hand, seeing if the handle bends easily, muttering "pretty heavy... good spoon."

Then he slips the stupid thing into his pocket as if I'm not at the table with him. I usually clear my throat at that point and and say loud enough for him to hear, "Hey trash, put the spoon back." He whips his head and always stammers "No one saw..."

Then it becomes a battle of wits, Joe shaking his head and clutching the spoon, me sitting, a look of shame crossed with irritation, hand thrust out clutching at the air, demanding he give me the spoon.

I just don't get his spoon thing. Only spoons, nothing else. And now he's learned a new trick. Now that he knows I watch him at the end of the meal, he also realized I have a "sticky" thing so I always head for the bathroom to wash my hands and face. What does he do? If the spoon is found acceptable, he hides it on his person, or better yet, in whatever shopping bag or brief case that I happened to have carried in with me.

If our marriage were legal, I think I'd want a divorce.
