Right??
Do people actually live this way.

I went food shopping yesterday-- and a lady and her son( or grand son) strolled over to the soup pots the female grabbed some saltine crackers started openning packets and munching on them and handing them to the kids---never buying soup??????

One of my husbands relatives thinks the toilet paper in public restrooms is up for grabs-- if you run out at home--why run to shop-rite --just grab an extra roll from your local fast food restaurant.

This same relative was slightly offended when my husband refused to let her leave with the silverware from the table the last time he had treated her out for lunch.

I Am of my soap box now

The only place where I have that philosophy is the hospital. I figure you are going to pay for it anyway when the final bill comes. :rotfl2:

I mean come on who pays $15.00 for ONE band-aid??

I was at Marshall Fields and they had samples of Frangos. A lady took a Kleenex out of her purse and started packing 'em up!

What is a Frango?

I have to work BINGO at my DS's school and we have to keep the Sweet n' Low packets behind the counter b/c people used to take tons of them. Same w/straws. They have to ask for Sweet n' Low and we can only give a straw when someone purchases soda or water.

This was my GM. She loved those sweet and low packs. Oh and the straws!! My goodness, when we finally cleaned out her home there were hundreds of them stuffed all over the kitchen. My DM went with her to the grocery store one time and she pocketed a box cutter that an employee had left on top of unopened boxes (a long time ago). Poor mom was mortified. :rotfl: I always put it down to a generational thing. :confused3

I was in the store and this lady put a doughnut in a bag. She broke it in pieces and gave one to her daughter and one to herself and put the rest of the doughnut in her purse. Gosh, some people.LOL

Why would you want crappy (no pun intended) toilet paper from a fast food restaurant? :rotfl: Seriously, TP is one thing I don't mind paying a premium for.

We went out to dinner with my MIL once and they gave us mints with the bill. As we were walking past the hostess station on our way out, MIL opens up her purse and says to the hostess, "give me some more of those mints Those were good." :sad2: The hostess looked shocked and I walked out of there as fast as I could.

At my workplace we have to lock up the lunchroom supplies. Every morning I have to put out enough plates, bowls, utensils, hot chocolate, tea, sugar, etc. for ONE day. If we put out too much, it immediately disappears. If it were up to me, I'd stop offering these things if people are just going to nab them. Let them bring their own hot chocolate!

I don't have to worry about my dad taking extra straws as he WASHES the ones he has and reuses them. The only I use a straw is when I am sick - sure I want to reuse that after he has put it under cold water for a few seconds.

I second that, why would anybody want that crappy fast food restaurant toilet paper!!!

But DH does call me a toilet paper snob. (I actually agree!)

My Grandmom was like this as well.

There is a well told story about her and her ways... One time my grandmother went to a wedding and liked the champagne glasses. Never mind that she never drank champagne or even wine for that matter, she liked the glasses and took them. She took not only her glass but the whole tables glasses ! :rolleyes1 My grandmother used to always have these HUGE purses so to put 8-10 champagne glasses in her purse was not big deal.

My grandmother must have hit the sauce then and started dancing. Anyway, she started twirling her purse and she dropped it. My dad said the noise was so loud everyone just stopped everything in the middle of the reception. :rotfl2:

I wasn't alive then, but that story still makes the rounds 35 years later!

My grandmother also had a thing for restaurant silverware. The joke was you had to nail everything down if she went out to a restaurant.

My FIL does the same thing. The past two times we went to Olive Garden with him he asked more than one waitress and/or hostess for more of the chocolate mints.

For his birthday this year we bought him a box of the Andes chocolate mints. I don't think he ever got the connection.

I was in Shop Rite the other day and my little guy just had to have this water gun  So I put it up and it doesn't scan, so the cashier is looking for the bar code and the front of the package says "try me", so she says this must be free, it says "try me". I swear to God she was dead serious and put it in the bag :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Isn't that called "shoplifting"?

I have wondered about this (grandma was the same)- seems to be a generational thing - do you think it can be linked to those who lived through the depression? When I was little, we used to "sample" the grapes and there were candies that you could pay a nickel for on the honor system if you just wanted to get a couple instead of a bag...not done today for obvious reasons.....In a way, I can understand the older generation...I think things used to be different to a point....

I am not saying anything excuses it...certainly doesn't for younger generations....

I have to say I am guilty of taking pens from Disney :guilty: ...the type of stuff that is left out and assumed you will take...but would never take things from a restaurant or store....I can certainly afford what I need.....except for those Disney pens, of course!!!!!

The produce people at my local grocery store encourage customers to sample fruit like grapes and loose cherries (but just one or two) whenever anyone asks how sweet they are. And Brach's still has the "honor system" thing for their bulk candies in my local stores, only now the price is 25 cents for 3 pieces. My dad still drops in about 7 cents and takes 6 pieces (or more). At least no one is usally paying attention to him when he is doing this.
