If indoor rides are closed when DL reopens...

I always forget this ride exists, but you are definitely right about it not reopening. Plus, this one is longer than 15 minutes so just by virtue of its length, would likely be eliminated.

I forget about this ride too- I hate it, sorry Nemo fans. 😂 It's just so cramped and sweaty and gah!

They could leave the viewing room available they have for folks with disabilities.

This ride is like exposure therapy to all the things that make me uncomfortable.

I may be in the minority here, but I enjoy the subs. I used to think this was because I will always treasure my graanddaughter's face the first time I took her on the ride, but... during an adults-only trip I also went on the subs and enjoyed it just as much. It's relaxing and I like the Nemo music. As far as a break during a long day, it's either the subs or Mr. Lincoln. :goodvibes

Same. Whenever I think about riding the subs, I imagine not enjoying them. But whenever I actually ride them I always end up having fun and feeling it's not fair they get so much flack.

I like them too! But only on cool days or in the morning.

I think I'd like the subs social distanced style. I've just never liked being crammed in shoulder to shoulder with sweaty people. 😂
The subs are so much more enjoyable when I learned you could request 2 seats for 1 person! Suddenly I wasn't encroaching on anyone else's personal space, and no one was "sitting on my lap" without my permission. Of course, I had to decide which way I wanted to lean to see out the port window, but that was never really an issue for me. .... With the idea of social distanced seating in the subs, I'd totally go on it! No one close enough to smell, no snuggles with strangers, the farts would be at least 6 feet away. Without so many people, it would be undoubtedly less warm as well, so less sweat from me, and no one next to me sweating either!

How could they possibly load the subs, though? The rows are back to back, so probably only 6 people would be able to ride at one time, if that. It's already such a slow loading and long ride. But, at those limitations, it would be a very nice ride!!!

WHAT?! I had no idea you could request this. I'm ok with the seats, I just hate that I feel confined.

I remember when it first opened and there was like a 4 hour wait. We rode it once a few years after and thought, this is it? lol I may feel differently if I have more room to breathe, though.

Yep, you can totally request two seats :) Someone told me about it when we were talking about bringing my sister who is a lady of size. I asked about it when I was by myself, and they didn't even give me a second glance. Just a "sure thing" and loaded me on. When loading and sitting, I leave the seat empty between me and the person in front of me, so the person behind me doesn't try to take the open spot, then I just scoot between the two when we get settled in. Nice side benefit: your seat neighbors appreciate the extra breathing room as well!

Thanks for sharing this tip! This is why I love the DISboards! <3

"Along with the new safety guidelines, there will also be one major difference for anyone hoping to ride the roller coasters, if they end up being a part of the reopening plan: no screaming.

That may sound silly but California’s Attractions and Parks Association is recommending that theme parks “mitigate the effects of shouting” in order to reduce the risk of spreading the coronavirus. It is also recommended that singing is discouraged as well, as it has also been linked to spreading COVID.

That being said, it looks like Disney California Adventure Park might not be opening their rides at all — or will be operating the rides at a limited capacity, in accordance with California guidelines. So the silent rollercoasters may or may not be a dystopian reality." (source yahoo news)

Again, oh blessed state of California, WDW is doing okay with this. :crazy2:

California’s Attractions and Prks Association (CAPA) cleared this up on their Twitter

Fake news The California Governor has NOT issued this as part of the theme parks regulations. It came from a plan suggested by The California Attractions and Parks Association (CAPA) and now everyone is spreading it as real news when it is not. This is misleading and not helpful to those planning to visit Disneyland when it reopens

I didn't say Newsom. I did say I got it from Yahoo. I'm happy to be wrong!

CAPA, the source of these guidelines that people are misinterpreting, clarified that they were talking about requiring masks, changing loading patterns, and having riders only face one way to mitigate the effects of screaming. Nowhere in their suggested guidelines do they say theme parks should actually prevent people from screaming, only mitigate the effects of it.

Agreed. I think, unfortunately, it is a clickbait world and a lot of journalists throw spaghetti to the wall and see what sticks. Usually, Yahoo. isn't terrible. But, I fell for it.
Again, though, I'm happy to be wrong.
