If indoor rides are closed when DL reopens...

Unless they get all the furloughed cast members working at least one shift at a closed attraction before March 12th, 2021, they will need to follow the below regimen.

The full training, regulated by Cal-OSHA, is the following for some attractions -
- Racers, Space Mountain, Indy, Incredicoaster is 5 8 Hour Days
-Pirates, Mansion, Guardians, Splash, Small World, Midway Mania is 4 8 Hour Days
-Luigi's, Mark Twain, Rafts is 3 8 Hour Days - or sometimes 3 and a half days.

IN ADDITION, they require a PREVIOUSLY certified supervisor who's done the above to oversee it all.
Why wouldn’t they be able to complete that before the end of April?

You have it backwards. Quartile 1 is the lowest income/worst outcomes and quartile 4 is higher income/better outcomes.

Yes you’re right, thank you!

it’s confusing because SD county called the quartile with the lowest income/worst outcomes 4th for the teacher vaccinations. But either way we’re talking about the same zip codes, and it seems they’re doing a better job reaching them, so that’s good!

They have already begun calling CMs back. It's happening. And as mentioned numerous times, by the end of April, OC will VERY likely be in the Orange tier.

They have THREE days to put QUALIFYING CMs on a FULL shift on every attraction they expect to open, or they won't be opening said attractions for 2-3 weeks. They would need enough CMs to cover all the expected shifts with no call-outs. At 15% capacity you can't HONESTLY tell me you believe the park will be fully open before Q3.

They would have to get people on payroll NOW...at 15% forecasted capacity, they will NOT be doing it.
Attractions CMs are back the week of March 15... I don’t know why they’d have them coming back if they weren’t preparing for opening?

ETA I still think it could be May before they actually open, and of course that’s dependent on no crazy spikes or issues... but they certainly seem to be on track for the end of April/early May if they want to open then. 🤷‍♀️

Maybe I’m missing something but why can’t they take the next 6 weeks, which is the time they expect it to take to reopen to do that? Shifts don’t have to include guests.

But maybe we’re talking about different things. What do you mean by fully open? Like out of yellow? Or just open with rides?

If it’s the latter, even at 15%, yes I absolutely do think they will. They wouldn’t have made an announcement even suggesting late April otherwise.

I don’t think I’m understanding your viewpoint because there’s more than 2-3 weeks until the end of April?

edit - doesn’t Disney’s Q3 start May 1, anyway?

I was going off of you saying you agreed with another poster who did say July 🤷‍♀️ (Who I also quoted).

I do feel bad for out of state residents, but honestly, after CA being “locked” up for a year now while most other areas went on with life, we have earned this.
I would just add that even for those of us who are in less “locked” states, I am not sure we have “earned” being able to go to DLR any less than CA residents, since many of us have self-imposed restrictions even when our state‘s rules have been less restrictive than California. For many people, they did not push their freedoms to the full limits that their states allowed, but rather they limited themselves beyond their state’s regulations, by their own best judgement. So I am hopeful that DLR will be available to all of us when it is safe to do so, but not restricted from out of state residents because of the perception that some deserved to go to DLR more than others based on the state that they live in. I think everyone has been through a terrible year, and we can all benefit from being back in the Magic!!!

It was a joke, but if I’m being serious, nobody in the US has been in more restrictive conditions for as long as counties who remained purple in CA have been. My county has either been in this purple tier or in a complete shelter in place for a year. So yeah, if part of Newsom’s plan is to limit it to CA residents for awhile to not blow the work we’ve been forced to do for the last year, I’m ok with it.

I understand that won’t be a popular opinion, but I’m not sure anybody outside of CA has any true idea what it’s been like here.

True. Our governor has had us under shelter in place or staying within 120 miles of home for the entire duration of this pandemic. Until he lifts the restrictions from his own state, he's not going to open theme parks to non-residents. I'm not saying I agree with these restrictions, but that's what we have, for now. Hopefully not for much longer.

Agreed. "Who deserves to be at DLR" is a pretty nasty argument to dive into.

And plus, tourists help support that local Anaheim tourist economy that's been suffering so much during all this.

We all deserve to return.

Does anyone think any indoor rides at DL won't be permitted to open at all? Seems like it's pretty optimistic most will be able to with restrictions?

For me, if Haunted Mansion or Pirates weren't open it'd be an instant dealbreaker. 🏴‍☠️

No, I don't think any won't be able to open.

Let's look at the "time restrictions" part and guess they mean 15 minutes. Remember that omnimover and water rides can be sped up. If Small World and Pirates are borderline (I KNOW for a fact that IASW is 12 minutes), they can simply speed up the flume to make the boats go faster. In addition, lightly loaded boats will move faster than fully loaded boats, and with some boats removed for capacity limits, these rides will go much faster than they used to.

Haunted Mansion is something like 9 minutes, from the time you board the buggy. This ride MAY stay closed, though, due to the stretching room requirement (at WDW they leave the door open and people just walk through. But at DL it is a an elevator that HAS to be used, so this one could go either way).

Other than HM, I cannot think of another indoor ride that would be problematic. RotR isn't in one building for the entire thing so I think they could skirt the rules on this one. You get split up several times in this ride and aren't mixing with the same people. MFSR would just limit to one party per vehicle.

Everyone deserves to return, but the restrictions aren't about who deserves to be there or not. It's strictly a geographical restriction. It's a little confusing to be a California resident and be allowed to go, while at the same time we are still under a 120-mile-radius advisory.

Hopefully Orange County will be in the orange tier before the reopening, which will allow 25% capacity. Although the California resident restriction is still currently in place in the orange tier, that could change.
