like BCV for 3 days and an all-star or POR for the other 4... would I have to go through the check-in process twice? And if so, how horrible would that be? I understand that if I pack my stuff, Disney will move it to the new resort, is this correct? I am considering doing this in order to check out two places during one stay and also to afford the BCV for a couple of days. I assume it would be wise to do the small resort first, so we end on a good note, but that means 3 days at BVC instead of 4 if we started off there. :earsboy: What's the better order in your opinions?

Thanks!

Yes, you must check in twice. How horrible is it? Depends on how much you love / hate checking in...

Yes, they will move your luggage for you. Be sure to tip.

I'd put the DVC resort at the end of the stay if it were me.

You will be very, very disappointed if you stay at BCV and move to a value resort! Although it means less days at BCV, put it last! I would also highly recommend, if you can do POR, do that rather than an All Star. I am so not a fan of the value resorts. On the other hand, I do really like POR.

We stayed four nights last May prior to my sister's wedding in Clearwater. When we arrived at our beachfront hotel in Clearwater, I wanted to cry. All I wanted to do was go back to the BCV.

We've done that twice before.
Not so bad.
They'll move your luggage from one resort to the other.
We usually check in early (to avoid rush check in in the afternoon) and then go to the parks and come back in the afternoon to get your room.

I agree with tjkraz though, save the best for last... :D
AS/POR first and then BCV.

Have fun!
:D

I have also changed resorts on my trips. This coming June I'm staying in 3 places, All Star Sports for 3 nights, BCV for 8 nights and ending with AKL for 4 nights. I don't think it's a big hassle at all. Disney will move your luggage for you if you want. You can go to the parks and then check in at the other hotel later or....(this is what I like to do)....go to the new resort in the morning to check in (checking in early gives you a better chance of getting your room requests)...and then go to the parks. This way when you're done with the parks you can bypass the more crowded check in process. Also definately stay at Beach Club last!! ;)

I do this all the time on my solo trips - last year I moved three times in one week, from a BWV studio to a BCV studio to a VWL one bedroom (which was upgraded at check-in to a two bedroom - all that space for just me!) I don't find it to be a hassle at all. I would definitely go and check in first thing - you will be avoiding the late afternoon rush and also beat the "checking out at 11:00am" crowd. Also, save BCV for last and do try for POR instead of All-Stars if you can swing it. POR is my fave of the moderates, and I think you'll like it too, although you'll fall in love with BCV!!!!

you were upgraded!?!?! That rarely happens!

We also have a tendency to move alot. This coming trip we are 4 nights - OKW, 2 nights POFQ, then back to OKW for 4 nights. We have also done it in the past. A couple things to keep in mind, while they will move your luggage, I think with the All Star resorts, you need to take it to the lobby, then they take it from there. If you stay at a moderatoe or above, bell services will come to your room. YOu still need to check out by 11AM and may not be able to check in until 4PM. While we have never had issues, you have to plan for the fact that you're away from your luggage for most of the day. Also, you should plan to tip at both resorts - the bell services that takes it away and the one that picks it up. We do $2/bag, but we have a car so we take our carry on bags and leave then in the car. If you stay at a moderate (with a frig) they will also move your perishables. Last time, they forgot to bring up our milk with our luggage on the last move, but it was in a frig a few hours later when we came back. Oh, and you must be in the room when the luggage is taken away and in the room when it's brought up.

We just got back from a wonderful trip (Jan 22 - Jan 29). We started out 1 night at All Stars Sports, 5 nights at OKW & the last night at All Stars Sport. The moves were painless. All cast members were very nice! Our rooms were ready at all resorts when we checked in (A.M.). :cool1: This was great because we have an 11 month old that was very tired (west coast to east coast time change), teething, and who really likes routine.
It was very quite at WDW. I could see how the All Stars would be a bit of a nightmare during the busy times. I only saw one:cheer2: squad and it was on our last day of the trip, on the other side of the building from our room. The only thing about the All Stars - tiny rooms and it takes a very long time to get items requested from housekeeping (crib, hairdryer, & a bed rail that we are still waiting for :rolleyes1 ).
OKW was heaven :cloud9: and we had awesome views. It made going back to the All Stars very hard!! Made my husband think about adding points to be able to spend a whole week at a DVC resort! Hmmmm.

Yes - I did get upgraded - probably will never happen again!!!! I stayed in studios for the first two "legs" of my trip, but had decided to reserve a one bedroom at VWL to see the room layout and to decide if that would better suit my family. (Now, of course, we've stayed in two bedrooms and the girls love them, so we might not ever be in a studio again!!) This was a trip in September, around the 20th or so, so it wasn't a very crowded time. I was checking out DVC properties prior to purchasing, which I did later in the trip. When the CM said, "We've upgraded you to a two bedroom," I very nicely said, "Thank you!" but could barely restrain myself from jumping up and down and screaming my head off!!! It was a really nice fluke, but I don't hear of many poeple being upgraded either. Wonder if the one bedroom they had for me had some sort of maintenance issue and there were no others available?

BTW, I was staying on cash for these - didn't have a DVC membership at the time. Wonder if that made a difference in the upgrade?

I am so glad to hear that they will move perishables! We are two nights at POR then on to OKW. I was planning to "wing it" for breakfasts until we got to to villa, but now I can get milk, oj, . . . let's see where's that list.

We are moving twice next month. I agree with going early and checking in. Saves a lot of hassle at the end of the day.
