I LOVE planning trips- to just about anywhere in the country. Please convince me what wonderful things I should come see in YOUR neck of the woods.

I'm 8 miles from NYC, so you'd probably want to do that. If you're not from a coast, I'm an hour from the beach. If you're from a warm climate, I'm a hour from ski slopes. If you want to go to Philly, it's 2 hours from here. If you like the Sopranos, you can take a tour of places they filmed (I saw a huge tourbus in the town over). If you like football, I'm a 10 minute drive from Giant's stadium. If the circus or Disney on Ice is in town, 10 minute drive. Oh, and we have tons of very yummy restaurants, especially if you like ethnic (and especially Italian! :cool1:).

I usually suggest the Atlanta Aquarium, World of Coke, STN MTN Laser show, a play at the Fox Theater, CNN Tour, Buckhead has some really great places to eat too. Further South is Savannah, another nice place to explore. Just to name a few....

Im about 20 minutes outside of Boston (that really means 1 - 2 hours with the traffic factor).

I would not suggest coming in the winter or spring. During summer and fall seasons, it is a hopping, happening place.

We have lots of waterfront activities, harbor cruises, dining cruises, mystery cruises, sunset and lobster cruises. Shopping is second only to that other place 4 hours to the west. Lots of shows, much less expensive that that other place too. #1 sports teams, fantastic food, lots of coast line, historic areas, museums, outdoor entertainment, infamous Italian North End with festivals every weekend during the summer (outdoor vendors, entertainment, food)

About a 40 minute drive (on a Sunday night), you can reach the bridge to the Cape (Cape Cod). Catch a ferry to Marthas Vineyard and schmooze with the President and many other politicians. Catch a glimpse on Kennedy country on a harbor cruise out of Hyannis.

An hour to the north is Portland ME, great outlet shopping, more beaches and a ferry to Nova Scotia, Canada.

An hour to the south is Providence RI. Lots of great Italian food in Fed Hill.

An hour 20 min. to the southwest is CT, you can go to Mohegan Sun or MGM Foxwoods Casino, largest casino in the world (if Dubai didnt build a bigger one yet). Lots of shows at both of those places too, spa treatments and many restaurants.

Or...20 minutes to the west is my house! Depending on where you live, we could house swap for the week! I have a large yard, computer, several TVs, lots of video game systems for the kids, deck w/ BBQ and nosy neighbors to keep you company!

I am from Maine so of course you have to come to the coast. Maybe explore some islands off the coast. (http://www.islandinnmonhegan.com/ nice play to stay if you want to venture to an Island)

In Philly you can take a historical walking tour narrated by Ben Franklin or Betsy Ross, you can see Franklin's grave, the first post office, Elphrath's Alley, great shops and dining as well as fantastic musuems.

However, I would recommend doing all this AFTER the transit strike ends. The lack of public transportation in the city of Philadelphia is hurting residents and tourists alike.

Colonial Williamsburg, Monticello, Museum of the Confederacy, Yorktown,

I'm on Cape Cod so..

Spend a day in Provincetown shopping and sight-seeing
Tour Cape Cod Lighthouses
Take the shuttle to North Beach in Chatham to swim with the seals
Ferry over to Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard for a day trip
Hit the Wellfleet Drive-In and fried clams before the show at Arnolds
Bike the path nearest the National Seashore or do the whole bike path;)
Spend at least one day on a bay side beach from high tide to low tide
Go deep sea fishing out of Barnstable Harbor (or a whale watch with kids)
Meander along Route 6A checking out farm stands or antique shops

I could go on and on but what I wouldn't do is...

Beach on the southside anywhere on the Cape (and if you don't know the difference, you may very well end up there)

Meander along Route 28 at any time in any town

Wellll in the STL - the Arch is a must, the AB Brrewery, Grant"s Farm (home of President Grant currently held by the beer Busch family not the former Pres- great free except for parking open seasonaly) during baseball season of course a Cardinal game, the Magic House, City Museum, the Science Center/'planetarium ,the Zoo (also free and one of the best in the country ) and of course the numerous riverboat casinos on the Missouri and Mississippi rivers.

I live in Ocala, Florida. Our main attraction (other than being only an hour from WDW) is a beautiful park called Silver Springs.

im in toronto, canada here!

we have the CN tower, a great downtown district with awesome shopping, metro toronto zoo, algonquin park, canadas wonderland (big amusement park), marineland (like sea world) and one of the 8 wonders of the world, niagara falls is only 1 hour away!

We went to Red Rock Canyon and Hoover Dam while we were over in 2007. The canyon is beautiful and some of our favorite pics from that trip were taken there.

We even got all kitchy and renewed our wedding vows in a chapel on the strip with Elvis. :thumbsup2 We loved it!

We live in the Rocket City(Huntsville, AL.) home of the Marshall Space Flight Center and The Space and Rocket Center.

Have you been to Bridge Street Town Centre?

It's awesome and it reminds me of Downtown Disney.

You've more than likely never even heard of Bedford, but I think that may be one of its' charms! So why visit :teacher:

Smith Mountain Lake...The Peaks of Otter...The National D-Day Memorial...The Blue Ridge Parkway...lots of apple orchards..wineries...Historic Avenel House...small intimate restaurants...lots of antique shops and an old fashioned town square and Main St, where small businesses will let you buy something and take it home even before you start making payments! (without a credit check).

Yes, everyone knows everyone else's business, but as a visitor, you'd have no worries..:rotfl:

I live in Southern California so you may want to see the beaches, Venice Beach, the Angel Stadium, Knotts Berry Farms, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Seaworld, the mountain region which has my favorite place, Big Bear, the Rose Bowl where they have wonderful flea shops, and oh yeah... DISNEYLAND :woohoo:

Sarasota has the Ringling Museum, Siesta Key beach, Longboat Key, Mote Marine Laboratories, Selby Gardens, and downtown has a lot of different restaurants (from tapas to sushi to steakhouses.) Of course, seafood is always good here, too.
Tampa, which is an hour to the north, has most of the things you would expect in a big city. They also have Busch Gardens. Clearwater has beautiful beaches as does St. Pete. There is a seafood restaurant in St. Pete that has mussels to die for (2 pounds for $10 and they're SO tender.) There is also a restaurant (well, actually it's a chain of 3) in this area that has food like kangaroo, ostrich, and wild boar (along with regular seafood.) Finally, I would recommend the steakhouse (called Cody's Roadhouse) in Bradenton that I go to to anyone. They have some of the best steaks I've ever had and reasonable prices (they also have two for one wells, wine and draft beer all night at the bar and until 7 anybody in the restaurant can get the 2 for 1 and it includes anything but bottled beer until 7...I just have the bartenders make me whatever they're in the mood to make.)
AND we're only two hours from WDW.
