If I upgrade categories online, will I be charged the difference based on booking day or changing day?

So I was pleased to snag a room on the Vancouver-HI cruise, but it is not the ideal room. If I see a room I like pop up online (maybe when the platinum holds expire) and if I upgrade, will the upgrade fee be based on my booking day or the day i change it, as all of the room prices have increased?

In the past, hopefully still true, if you change room categories (on the same cruise) the price is the price it was on the day you made the original reservation.
