If I plan a trip 3 months out, will there be any dining options left?

Besides quick service, I mean! We are planning a somewhat last minute trip for the summer and I'm just worried that any sit down meals...I'm mainly thinking about character meals...will be booked solid. Any chance I could still get any good reservations? I wish you could look in the system and take a peek before actually booking a hotel

You can book dining reservations without having a hotel reservation. We do it all the time. But you should not have a problem getting decent dining reservations 3 months out. You probably won't get BOG, Ohana, CRT, Etc but you will be able to get reservations. We just did it a little over 1 month out and we went during a busy time. Have fun!

Depends on when you are going? I know you said summer but can you be more specific? We planned our trip July 31st for an early Sept trip last year and got all the ADR's we wanted.

Thanks...we are debating between the last week in May because not all schools are out yet, but wondering if Star Wars weekends makes up for that crowd wise. Otherwise we'll go in June or July. We are pretty flexible time wise as long as it's during summer. Thanks for the responses.
And I forgot about being able to book without a hotel...thanks! Just need to finalize some dates!

I just booked a trip for May. I know there are less crowds than the summer, but I was able to get almost all of my ADRs. I agree to book them now. You can always cancel.

I'm normally a big pre-planner and never had to make "last minute" reservations. We are. About 90 days out and I've gotten everything I wanted except the time I have for bog is 9:30 and I'm working on something earlier since I have a little one. Everything else is at the times I want. You can find some good choices, especially if you are flexible on times. People cancel often, so just keep checking. We made some reservations while we were at Disney and found plenty of choices. This was ion a busy July week.

I just had to plan a trip for a Spring Break week, very busy time, only 4 weeks out. I got every single ADR that I wanted, including CRT, Be Our Guest, 1900 Park Fare, Ohana, etc. I just checked back every single day for cancellations, and they eventually popped up. So many people just grab lots of reservations when they open, then narrow their plans down closer to their trip and cancel.

I booked our Easter week reservations two months out and was able to get some good reservations. I did not find any character dinners at good times but lunch was usually available. Good luck!
