Used to ordering from Amazon but confused by an item I have in my cart---this has never happened before.

Looking at a camera and I priced out what the 2 day versus 1 day extra shipping would be but when I click on those options it is telling me I will recieve it anywhere between the 17th and 20th of August.

Need this by the 12th--this Sunday for a bday.

Does anyone think if I do the 1 or 2 day shipping I would get it earlier than the dates they list or am I out of luck???

If I order today I don't want to pay the extra shipping only to get it in a week---I dont understand why it lets me pick the 1 or 2 day shippping but then lists that I will get it a week later:confused3

Is this an item being sold by Amazon or an Amazon merchant? Is the item currently in stock? Both of these affect shipping speed.

If you really want it, pay for the faster shipping. If it doesn't arrive in the promised time, you can get the expedited shipping fee refunded. I have Amazon Prime, so I'm not sure what expedited shipping costs for non-Prime members.

if its coming from and being fufilled by amazon you may BUT if its coming from someone but being fufilled my amazon probably not...sometimes they are slow

I would definately pay for the faster shipping.

If you start the checkout process it will give you an estimated delivery date for the shipping method.

We've used regular shipping and faster shipping before. The regular shipping can take up to 2 weeks, but faster shipping can get it to you in a couple days.

I would pay for the faster shipping as well. If it is the same camera that I ordered today (the orange panasonic for $99), mine said it will be here by Monday the 13th and it is coming directly from Amazon. I have learned when it comes directly from them, I usually receive the item the first date of the date range.

Shipping itself is different than order fulfillment. The shipping time only relates to the third-party carrier's policies (UPS, etc). If UPS, the shipping time excludes weekends. The time it takes for the item to actually be delivered to the shipper is based on different factors, like Amazon fulfillment vs a different party, item availability, etc.

I have Amazon prime, which has two-day shipping, but that rarely means I actually get it two days later unless it gets out the door that day and doesn't fall over a weekend. It's more than probable you won't have it this weekend. I usually just wrap a picture of the item if it's a gift and hasn't been received.

This is also spelled out in Amazon's FAQ:

Yes, Pooh Friend #1----I am talking about that one----it is strange though if I go to put that exact one in now it is showing $129 instead of the $99 but that is through TigerDirect.

There is a spot from there where it shows the $99 one and when I click on that and put it in my cart it says sold by Amazon LLC usually ships within 8-9 days and says I won't have it until Aug 20-Aug 23.

2 day shipping changes it to from Aug 20 -Aug 21 and 1 day shipping changes it to Aug 17-Aug 20. I swear earlier today there was only one price and it said I would have it by early next week:confused3

Thanks everyone again!!:thumbsup2

OK ---I know logistically I probably won't have it this weekend---my fault there for waiting and procrastinating.

I think I have a good idea of what I will do now-----the picture of the item wrapped is something I have done before

---I have the Canon A4000 waiting and paid for at Office Depot--$149---they said if not opened I can return it within 14 days and get my money back.

Order the panasonic from Amazon---wrap a pic for her birthday give her both and then let her make the decision.

Can anyone tell me how easy or a hassle it would be to return this camera to Amazon if she decided she wanted the Canon instead??? If it isn't too much trouble to do this then I think I may go this route.

Only other option is the Nikon Coolpix which is waterproof and I could get that in time for her bday here at home.

What would you all do buy both or get the Nikon????? I just am not sure of the comparison of the NIkon to the Panasonic:confused3

Thanks again you have all been a big help!!:thumbsup2

Haven't done many returns but I've never run into problems and it's been an easy process. Return policies are based on the type of item and seller, so you'll probably get the best answer from the Return help pages.
