if i need more points and do not want to borrow

if i buy some points from someone how does this work?? would this be a transfer??

You can arrange a "transfer" of points from another member, but if you want the 11 month booking window, you have to make sure you find someone who has the same home resort and use year you have.

Officially, a transfer is not supposed to involve money exchanging hands either. I have only done one transfer in my 12 + years of membership, and that was one point this year to someone who was one point short.

I just wanted to add that borrowing is not necessarily a bad thing. When we come to the end of our contracts, we will basically lose the ability to use our last year's points anyway in January of the ending year. I plan (if I'm still around) to make sure I've used them all!

I agonized about borrowing for our Oct. trip this year. I tried to rent or transfer the 20ish points I needed but most people are not willing to transfer that many points without some compensation, which isn't allowed and I wasn't to keen on just renting for one night. I like to have control of my reservations.

I bit the bullet and borrowed the points from our next use year, I know some day we are not going to be able to make 2-3 trips to the World and I will bank those points and be out of the hole. If not then I have 49 years of membership rather then 50.
