We are going and were going to get just what we need - 4 days with plus option, expiring tickets... However, should we just get more days and non-expiring...because you can use them even say 10 years from now right? Right now we are child-less couple but in 10 years we'll probably have kids by then and go to Disney again. It would cost more but next time we go but the next time we go it won't cost us for tickets which will probably cost a hell of a lot more than they do today... Or would it be wise to just save money and get what we need? I knwo some people on this board go all the time - 1-2 times a year. That's not us though ... we try to visit a new place each year.

For our trip in August we are going to the parks for 5 days, but I got 10 day PH non expiring tickets. We got them because the price difference was only $200 and we thought that was a good deal. We plan to go back in Dec of '06, as we are DVC members.

For you, I would recommend just get what you need now. If you are not going for another 10 years or so it may not be worth the money you are saving now. Besides if they get lost you may have a hard time getting new ones.

It's up to you. The fifth through tenth days with non-expiration cost a lot less apiece than the first four days without, you get two more plusses for the same $48. plus pack price, and you are paying 2005 prices for admission in 2015 or whenever with a 10 day non-expiring pass.

4day expiring with plus options (2): 230.00
10 day non expiring with plus options (5): 342.00

If my math is right...
Let's assume price increase of 2% a year and in 5 years the 4day pass is now 254.00. There is now a total price difference of $88. On the initial difference of $112 you would need to make about 12% per year to make $88 on what you save now.

Just to make that interesting, lets break down what it would cost you to buy ten one day park hopper tickets with 5 plus options.

Each adult day would be $63.64 (that includes the tax) so multiply that by 10. Then add on 5 one day tickets to either a water park or Disney Quest, which, with tax, would be about $36.08. Then add the park hopper option to EACH of your tickets at $35 plus the 6.5% tax per ticket.

OK, you have the base ticket costing you $636.40, plus the PH feature at $370and add the 5 water park/Disney Quest tickets at $180.40, giving you the grand total of $1200.00 Boy, that price of about $511.50 sounds pretty darn good!

You'll be back. ;) Buy the 10 day tickets.

My (grown) daughter and I have been discussing this very issue. Our original plan was to buy just 3-day non-hopping expiring tickets (at $181) for our visit in December. For $73 more, we can get 7-day non-hopping passes with no expiration. (We don't do the water parks, so we don't need the plusses - and we have found that one park a day works out fine for us.) The $73 difference means that the extra four days cost only a little over $18 each - and - probably even more important - it gives us the incentive to plan another Disney vacation sometime in the future.

I've read the pros and cons of his kind of plan - including the fact that many people lose the passes, or never make it back to use those unexpired days. I think we're willing to take that chance, even though our last trip was five years ago. My granddaughter will go off to college in the fall of 2009, and I'll turn 70 that year. Sounds like a good way to celebrate her high school graduation and my 70th birthday, don't you think? :wizard:

We're going in May and will only be able to spend four days in the parks. We are still going to buy a non-expiring, 10 Park Hopper for a little over $100 extra. We will still have a week's worth of tickets left over. If you can afford the 10 day, it is crazy not to get them. We are not able to go every year, so this is better than an annnual pass.
