:scared1: I will never get used to seeing my son have a seizure! Christian has severe brain damage, which causes him to be very mentally handicapped and have seizures. Almost 100% of his seizures happen at night. I can probably count on one hand how many he's had in the daytime. Well, DH had put him on the potty when he started up. I could tell by his yell that something was wrong. We got him back to bed and watched him until the seizure stopped, about 4 min (he always has long seizures, 3-5 min.) Christian started singing and playing with toys, so i went back downstairs. Then, CRASH! I just about vaulted over the back of the sofa getting to the stairs. Christian was crumpled at the top, having a second seizure. :scared1:

Well, as you can imagine I am now a quivering basket of jelly. My first thought was go go straight to the ER, but by the time I got my shirt changed and my shoes on he had straightened up and was looking for some supper. Silly boy. I called the neurologist instead--can you believe, he called me back in 3 minutes ON EASTER?! Anyway, we both agreed that since Christian just had bloodwork done last week, and he's back to normal now, that it would be better to stay home than go to the hospital, unless it happens again tonight. At the moment, Christian is happily hanging out with his nurse, Samuel, and trying to con him into letting him walk in the street. As if! :rotfl:

You know, I've been a pediatric nurse for 25 years and I've seen hundreds of kids have seizures but I never get used to seeing it happen to my child. I may need to go meditate with my friend, Xanax. :hippie:

Oh my! Poor guy. Hope something simple like an adjustment of his meds will help. I'm surprized he just comes back to normal so quickly after such a long seizure. No postdyctal (Spelling?) period huh? Hope the rest of your night is quiet.

Sometimes he's more post-ictal than other times. He's usually a little "off" after a seizure, but not delerious or anything. Occasionally he'll be disoriented for a number of hours after a seizure. I don't think he's ever had two seizures in a row, let alone in the day time. He seems to be doing okay now, though. He and Samuel are playing. :goodvibes And my heartrate is back down to the 80s!

That must be very scary. I'm so glad he is ok now.

Though I gotta say--for something so troubling, it's tough to not giggle at your posting style. You come across as putting it all in the best light possible.

Hope the rest of your night is uneventful and Christian has a safe night's sleep.

:goodvibes Sometimes i think I use humor to deflect anxiety. Seizures are weird. They are so scary when they're happening and then when it's over you kinda go "Did you see that??" Like you just can't believe what you saw. :confused3 After Christian has a seizure I have to talk about it for awhile to settle myself down. At least I have a few hours before bedtime to watch him and calm down--usually he has seizures around 11pm, so then I'm really revved up for awhile!

I'm still giggling over his negotiation tactics to play in the street.

If only us parents could bounce back so quickly from something so scary.

 I hope Christian has a good night.

{{{HUGS}}}} Minkydog. I can sure understand your increased heart rate and emotional reaction. It must take quite some time to calm yourself down. I have read many of your posts and know that you are one special lady. I really marvel at your ability to cope with what life has presented you with. Keep on this track and you'll continue to do well. And a big  to your special son.

I am so sorry your family is dealing with this  My thoughts and prayers are with you
