I will never get used to seeing my son have a seizure! Christian has severe brain damage, which causes him to be very mentally handicapped and have seizures. Almost 100% of his seizures happen at night. I can probably count on one hand how many he's had in the daytime. Well, DH had put him on the potty when he started up. I could tell by his yell that something was wrong. We got him back to bed and watched him until the seizure stopped, about 4 min (he always has long seizures, 3-5 min.) Christian started singing and playing with toys, so i went back downstairs. Then, CRASH! I just about vaulted over the back of the sofa getting to the stairs. Christian was crumpled at the top, having a second seizure.
Well, as you can imagine I am now a quivering basket of jelly. My first thought was go go straight to the ER, but by the time I got my shirt changed and my shoes on he had straightened up and was looking for some supper.

Silly boy. I called the neurologist instead--can you believe, he called me back in 3 minutes ON EASTER?! Anyway, we both agreed that since Christian just had bloodwork done last week, and he's back to normal now, that it would be better to stay home than go to the hospital, unless it happens again tonight. At the moment, Christian is happily hanging out with his nurse, Samuel, and trying to con him into letting him walk in the street. As if!
You know, I've been a pediatric nurse for 25 years and I've seen hundreds of kids have seizures but I never get used to seeing it happen to my child. I may need to go meditate with my friend, Xanax.
