If I have to choose...

We will be going in March. We are traveling with DH's family. All of us went last year on two separate trips. They saw Fantasmic! and loved it and we missed it and were looking forward to it this year. None of us have seen the SW fireworks and most are big SW fans. I really want to do the dessert party and fireworks AND F!

F! is scheduled for 8:30 the night we are planning HS, with no posted time for fireworks or dessert party. I have heard it probably won't work out from several sources. So if I have to choose between fireworks and dessert party or Fantasmic! which should I go with?

Are you all going to stay together, or willing to split up? If you don't want to split up, and you are ambivalent on which to see, then see SW as a group, as no one has seen it yet. Save Fantasmic for next trip. (And plan it today!) :)

If you could split up, then you have a hard choice. I love Fantasmic, and would hate to miss it on any trip, but have not seen SW yet. My solution was to make 2 nights at HS for our next trip, because I couldn't make that decision.

If I had to choose, personally I would do the SW ones. Even my 4 year old who hasn't seen anything SW related thought they were absolutely amazing.

I am in the same boat. I am going in late March and hope to see the SW fireworks, but nothing is posted yet (with about 70 days until our trip).
*shrug*.

Personally I would see SW (as I am a SW fan too) and while Star Wars is all over DHS .. it still could be a limited show and go away soon.

They wouldn't do both shows at the same time. I have heard that you can get from F! to the Star Wars show as long as you are walking with purpose. You wouldn't be able to do the desert party tho if you attempt both

This is what I was thinking too. In all likelihood, Fantasmic will still be there on your next trip, the longevity of the SW show is unknown. While I haven't actually seen the SW show, I've read extensively that it is NOT, strictly speaking, a fireworks show but rather a projection show with some pyro features. Just thought I'd mention that in the case that everyone in the group is expecting a huge Disney fireworks show. In any case, people seem to really enjoy the show.

I may be in the minority here, but I found the SW fireworks underwhelming, felt like the show is trying to figure out if it's a fireworks show or a laser light/musical show, seems thrown together. We've done Fantasmic a number of times and absolutely love it. If it were my family, we'd choose Fantasmic!

I am leaning towards that show BECAUSE it is not a huge fireworks show. My son is still a little wary of big, loud noises and didn't want to do Fantasmic last time we were there ..

Though . the SW fireworks could be too late of a night with a 4 1/2 yo and an infant. We'll see.

It can be done but you are not going to have a good view of the SW show. They keep some pathways open and will not let you stop. So you either squeeze in where someone already is and block them or keep walking and miss it mostly.

If it were a really slow night, it might not be too bad but if you want to experience the SW show I would choose one or the other.

The SW show is mostly projection mapping, and you have to wait well in advance in order to have a decent view, since the good views are available only from a very limited area. If ease is a criterion at all, it would be a lot easier to do Fantasmic, with less waiting and a much better view.

They absolutely did run both shows at the same time when we were there in September- we could hear and see part of the firewoeks by twisting around in our seats at Fantasmic. It was more than a little distracting.

We went to the Star Wars show another night and while my DH loved it, I thought there were way too many things going on with the projections. To me the show would have been a lot better with some ruthless editing and a more focused presentation.

So my vote would be for Fantasmic.
