I have never had an AP/
I was thinking of getting one when I go down Jan 29-Feb 4. I am wondering if the rates for a room are good with an AP, as I like going at that time of year.

Can any of you give me a ballpark of what kind of room discount I may possibly get? 5% 10% or even 15%> I was also thinking I could get DH to go.......:rolleyes1

I have looked everywhere and cannot seem to figure this one part out.

any and all help wanted. I have searched stickies and everything.

I believe that week last year the values were 35% off, mods, 42% and deluxes 45% off. We went that time last year and thought about APs and are thinking about going 2011 those dates and possibly getting APs.

thanks for the reply. I may get an ap while there, and go from that point.
:goodvibes

Unless you have a second trip planned within a 12 month period, it is not a good financial decision to buy an AP just for the discounts. The room discount seems to only be 2-5% better than the public discounts these days and there's no guarantee that there even will be a discount. Make your AP decision based on your actual ticket needs. If your prices are close between ticket cost and AP then you can take things like discounts into consideration to tip the scale.

Agreed! :thumbsup2
Other things that factored into us getting an AP:
~ The trip we bought them during we stayed off site and were there for 10 days. At $14 parking per day we included the $140 saved in "parking" fees towards the money "saved" by purchasing an AP.
~ We also wanted the Tables in Wonderland card (costs $75 in addition to the AP) which saves 20% on most table service meals INCLUDING apps & drinks. We had several character meals booked as well as other TS dining and for our family who tends to do apps, split meals and order desserts even if we stay onsite paying OOP for dining with TiW works MUCH better than the Disney Dining Plan.

At the time of purchase we didn't have addl trips planned but still came out ahead due to the parking and TiW savings (and merchandise discounts) from that one trip. Once we got home we booked the Poly CL and saved 40% w/ a pin and swapped that to 42% once the AP rate was released and because it was available (discounted rooms aren't nec avail at all times, hence the pin booking 1st). And we're booked for ONE more trip now on this AP for Jan also with a 40% pin @ the Poly and are hoping for a little extra w/ the AP (but not holding our breath for that). In the end the AP didn't save us money because we'll end up going 3x in a year where we only planned on going once, but outside of feeling compelled to go back to use the pass we saved money once there. :lmao:

True. I love my AP and couldn't imagine not having one, but I go to WDW 4-5 times a year. I love the discounts it gives me at the DTD Disney store, at Mouse Gears in Epcot, at the Basin in DTD, for backstage tours, for MNSSHP and MVMCP tickets, etc. Plus some restaurants give a 10% discount and you can get the TIW card which gives 20% off most TS meals. With all the discounts, plus the 35%-42% room discounts it gives at the moderates and deluxes it easily pays for itself every year.
