I am kind on the fence about the concierge at WL. I have already booked it, but if I cancel my bill come down almost 850.00. I have heard great things. And it is my anniversary so I want to feel like I am VIP. Can you guys convnice me one way or the other? We will probably eat breakfast there everyday, but beyond that I am not sure. Just tell me what are the advantages to having concierge beyond the food. Thanks ALL!!!

First of all, even if you were to eat more than breakfast in the lounge, I don't think there's anyway you'd come close to eating $850 worth of food ;) . The availability of the lounge is just an additional perk of staying concierge. People probably mention it the most because it's something that you sort of can put a dollar figure on. The other amenities are more abstract. What are these things worth to you:

Pre-planning assistance, basically your entire vacation done in one e-mail as opposed to hours or days of phone calls to different departments

Private check-in

Secure floor

On-site CM's to assist you with any last minute arrangements

Park purchases delivered to your room

Automatic turn down service, newspaper delivery

A lot of people would say that for the extra money, they'll make their own PS's. You can utilize guest services at the resort for any last minute dining plans and you can call housekeeping and put in a request for turn down. It's very hard to get a clear cut answer, because for others, not having to get up at 6:59am and worry about getting a Princess breakfast is a priceless benefit. It's a lot of money and it's not an easy decision. You just have to go with what you're comfortable with spending.

IMHO you won't feel like a VIP at WL concierge. It's not set up for VIP type treatment.

To feel like a VIP you'd be better off booking the AKL, the Contemporary 14th floor, or the Polynesian.

Do you think it will be better after their renovation?

I'm sure it will better improved, but I'm not sure that adding the lounge space will resolve all the issues. If they simply add space like they ahve at the BC/YC, basically tables and chairs like a restaurant, it becomes just taht. To me a lounge is a welcoming and comfortable space that serves a purpose other than a feeding sone. It's a place to relax in, maybe read the paper or watch TV. Tables and dining chairs are not suitable for relaxation IMHO.

I just didn't feel like the service there was VIP quality, above and beyond the lack of a lounge.

I am starting to think I should have booked BWI Concierge instead of WL. I am a bit torn as I am going during the holidays and WL has a certain appeal to it during that time. From what I have heard, there is no "view" from the lounge area, like at Poly? What about BWI? This is the first trip that I have taken that I have been this indecisive. :confused3

I really enjoyed the WL concierge, but I think I enjoyed it more b/c I had a pin code. My DBF really wanted to try it. We ate breakfast there all but 2 mornings and randomly ate snacks in the afternoons while returning from the parks. I liked it b/c they got me the illuminations cruise which is super hard to get.

But for $850, stay a few extra nights, or eat at all those fancy places that you wouldn't normally. That should sure make you feel like a VIP!

(I love the WL especially during the holidays!)

IMHO the Boardwalk has the most stunning holiday decorations of all the WDW resorts.

We've stayed at concierge at AK, the Poly and Wilderness. Out of the three the wilderness was the most dissappointing. Just some food selections out in the lobby and we still couldn't get the reservations we wanted from the staff. They were nice enough but seemed distracted. We loved AKL and the Poly Concierge was our favorite.
