could i fill a mug with milk, technically?? We are staying at a POP resort, and don't want to pay another bill for a refrigerator, but DD loves her milk... I thought if we buy her a mug, and there's milk for coffee.... you do the math!! anyone BTDT??

The refillable mug stations do not have milk. There is cream for coffee. Milk is sold in bottles in the refrigerated cases along the wall.
Sorry no way to fill your mug with milk.

The previous poster is correct - there isn't milk provided for coffee. I think they have half and half and/or non-dairy creamer in individual serving packs. Milk is not an option for refillable mugs.

1) Milk is too expensive to give away in a refillable mug.
2) Coffee is cheap for WDW.
3) Soda is free to WDW.
4) There are no significant wholesale bargains on milk.

If you don't score a fridge swap you can always pack a collapsible cooler. They work great for keeping milk and OJ (and beer :rolleyes1) nice and cold. I use a plastic grocery bag to transport ice from the ice machines back to the room so you might want to toss a couple of those in your bag too. Change the ice twice a day and you're good to go!

It's not even cream (although they USED to have it)...now it's just that non-dairy creamer stuff. Yech.

I've tried this. It's a HUGE pain. Personally, it's just not worhth the savings. How much are you going to save this way? Ten $? It will take up a good fifteen minutes each day, and then the ice water leaks and getss all over the place and your room carpet smells foul. Ewww!
Not only that, but you have themilk in the room, not 'with' breakfast. You'll need paper cups to bring the milk to breakfast...and so it goes.

If you are on DDP, breakfast comes with two beverages. Also, if you are not DDP, then you can maybe buy milk in the resort gift shop. It is less expensive there (per ounce), but you'll end up with a bigger bottle. Enough for cofee and drinking.

In my opinion, one reason why the WDW coffee tastes SO foul is the nasty creamer. I discovered a long time ago that it tastes worlds better if you add real milk to it. DH and I will get a milk at breakfast just to add to the coffee.

Or we just spring for a latte. Which is no savings at all. :santa:

$10 per DAY is worth about 10-15 minutes for me. YMMV. I have had coolers that leak and that IS a PITB and they get thrown out. My new coolers don't leak at all. If you are afraid of leaking then you can put the ice in zip locks and then in the cooler and put the cooler in the bathroom with a towel under it.

You do have a point about milk at the food court but if the OP is going to have a fridge to hold milk they have the same problem.

If you have a car I would actually recommend buying a styrofoam cooler on your grocery run They keep stuff cooler longer, you can put more stuff in them and they don't leak.

We usually picked up a milk with dinner, then put it in the ice bucket with ice. That kept it cold enough until morning. During the day I got her milk at restaurants and split it between 2 insulated sippy cups.

There is an organic milk you can buy that doesnt need refrigerated. I forget the brand but it is like the juice boxes.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that - Parmalat. There may be other brands. You have to kind of look for the juice box sized bottles, and it isn't inexpensive. It also coms in maybe quart sized boxes. It might be worth bringing some Parmalat from home.

Not to belittle the point, but if you are only getting a fridge to keep milk cold to drink for breakfast, you are probably just better off getting your milk in the food court/gift shop when needed.

When we tried the cooler, we needed ice at least twice a day. We used a softsided cooler and ice in ziplocs. Leaked every time we tried it.

I'm not trying to criticize others, just sharing my experience. We've tried just about every method, and found that if you are only talking milk and orange juice the savings really isn't that great.

Another factor to consider is that the savings on groceries is only there when we actually eat all the food we buy. The only exception, IMO, is bottled water. Staying hydrated will save more than just the cost of the water.

I also like to look at the overall cost of the vacation. Time is money. A trip to the grocery store during your vacation equals time you are not out having fun. If you subtract what you are paying per hour to be in Orlando from how long a shopping trip costs, the savings is even less. You are probably better off paying Disney prices for food. I say this as someone who has looked at actual receipts and how much we 'saved.' DDP is one of the best deals for our family.

Check the prices of milk at the food court vs. the gift shop. Often bottled sodas and milk, etc are cheaper from the gift shop than from the food courts - and certainly cheaper than at the parks. Although the non refrigerated milk is an option, it tastes really different to regular milk and your DD may not like it. I would personally let her try some at home first to see if she takes to it so you know before you get there. I also wouldn't mention that it is different milk and see if she complains about it. Unfortunately the avid milk drinker (that would go for any drink, not just milk) is usually pretty picky. It is worth a try though.

Horizon makes it. Parmalat also has individual as well as quarts in the box

As an aside in regard to the 'creamer' it is really nasty. I really don't like half and half but it's not even real. I have asked for regular milk and the CM has brought out a small amout for my coffee. We usually have a cooler in the room with real milk but the last trip didn't buy the milk yet so I asked and it wasn't a problem.

I've asked for milk and had them give me some as well. I only bother if a CM is handy. Otherwise I put up with the rather nasty non-dairy creamer. It seems fitting to use bad creamer with bad coffee. But I am at Disney so I don't care!

I asked once why they don't have real milk in the coffee dispenser or in pitchers like some hotel breakfast bars do. The answer - people would fill their mugs with milk which wasn't intended to be a free beverage.

I didn't realize that WDW changed from real creamer to Non Dairy-
when did that happen? because when we were there in Sept. 08 it was
still real cream. Also wondering if the Non-dairy creamer is a liquid or
powder?

I can tolerate the nasty creamer in coffee but I NEED milk in my tea. Funny enough, I can't remember asking at either BC or the Poly (maybe we didn't use CS so much, not sure or maybe it was just easier, especially BC because the CS is so small) but at the mods and values had to ask at the CS food court places for milk - although CM's weren't unpleasant it was a really big deal, they had to go in the back, find a small container, doled out in less than one ounce servings etc. I'm way too cheap to buy a milk carton as I feel I'm entitled to it when I buy tea so I put up with it. We are at AKL this time so I guess we'll see what happens with Mara :santa:

It's a liquid. I have seen them put the bladder types clear plastic container in the dispenser. It appears to look like half and half but it isn't.
