If I called today and said, ok, we would like to purchase 160 points at BLT. What would happen next?

How long before we know if we are approved or not?

How long before I have to give them the deposit?

I guess, really, what happens next?

The way it worked for us was we made the call July 4th, 2008 and put the deposit down that day on a credit card. On the phone our guide told me we were approved for the preferred financing and booked us a reservation with developer points for us right there on the phone. Then about 7 days later we recieved the paperwork looked it over and sent it back. Then by the end of the month our deed was recorded with OCC and our first payment started Sept 15th.

I have read other places where people were given several days to send a check or have the deposit held til a specific date but usually it was within a few days.

Hope this helps.

March '09....made the decision, DH called. Gave his info including SS#, there was silence on the end, then "OK you're good to go" (credit run right then and there). Sent out the overnight fedex package to us, we went through everything, told them how they could take the down payment, gave them the info for payments and monthly annual dues payments....got it notarized...sent it back. In there was a form where you officially give them permission to run your credit...I think at that time they didn't do much more...but NOW they seem to be running it again just to make sure.

And over the next month or so we got various things in the mail letting us know that we were officially members.

Fast in retrospect, slow at the time...and a little confusing b/c things are sent in no particular order. I never wanted to bug our guide, but I'm sure I could have called Jim and he would have explained it more to me. :)

Once you call and agree to buy, as PP said, they get information, do a quick pre-approval for you over the phone, take your CC# for a deposit, and then get the process rolling.

You can usually make reservations in a day or so, or ask your guide to help you with that if there is something up and coming you want that might not be available-guides seem to have an easier time securing hard to get reservations for new buyers.

Paperwork then comes in about 7 - 10 days. You review, sign, and send back. If you are financing, then there is something that will need to be notarized. Send it back, and within 2 - 3 weeks, closing will take place.

Sounds easy enough.

I feel comfortable with the process, I guess now I just need to decide how many points, and where I would like to buy. Ohh, and of course, make sure I have the money! :rotfl:

Good luck - - it really is a very easy, straightforward process. If you have a vacation coming up, make sure to let your Guide know so he can hopefully work some magic and get you a reservation on points instead of cash. :goodvibes

Like the PP did, we surfed DVC and actually chatted with a rep online. When we started talking price he had our Guide call us to give us specifics. We made an appointment to talk on Saturday morning. He called a little later but that is OK. We instantly received a preferred interest rate, I mean instantly. We received our paper work on the following Tues, 2 days later, notorized it on Wednesday, mailed it back on Thursday, on Disney's desk Friday. Very, very fast.

As Sandisw said if you have a specific time to you want to travel let your guide know the sale depends on you reservation. We purchased in June of 2009 and we were planning a 1 week stay in a dedicated 2 BR savana room at Kidani in October with nothing available and our guide got us our reservation. We had a wonderful first trip home.:thumbsup2

This just happened to us, and our guide was wonderful at making some pixie dust happen to get a room. We just joined a few weeks ago--we are going for a week in October for my brother's wedding at the Poly (of course a holiday weekend and very sold out!). Our guide was able to get us a studio at BLT when otherwise we would not have been able to. We are so looking forward to the trip and our first trip home! :cool1:
