If Frances missed WDW do we have Ivan?

I can't beleive it went from a 1 to a 3 just today. I saw on the news it is expected in Bahamas by Friday and south Fla (us) after that. I also saw on the news that Max Mayfield's (sp?) (Director of Hurricane Center) reaction to seeig Ivan was "oh no!":earseek:

this is a link that I have been following for Ivan. Our local weather men have been discussing it already by saying that they know we do not want to hear but we need to and we shoud be watching this too. I have decided to leave the boards up on my windows. I took them off 4 days after Charley hit (had to wait for my power to come on to do it), and put them back up this past Thursday. I am not taking them down to only have to put them up the end of this week. I will take them down when I hear Ivan has gone north in the Atlantic or fell apart and not until. I am also thinking about canceling my ressies that were switched from this weekend to 9/16. I don't think I want to take any chances. I know Ivan should be gone by then, but at the rate we are going, there will be another (hope not though)

RichmondTiggerFan,
I don't think that Ivan will hit us here in VA. It seems that he will stay to the south. You never know though! I saw all the flooding you had in Richmond and I thought I was looking at pics from Va Beach!! It was unreal! I hope you were ok!

All I can tell you is, after just going through Francis they are telling us to keep our Hurrican shutters on the windows and our hurrican supplies refreashened and up dated. That is here in South Florida. They have also said this is the only storm that has ever been created so far down and therefore they are not sure what it is going doing to do, but of course we have to get over Francis and get her on her way.

They have said this in Central Florida too. It is still a little early to tell and they are reluctant to talk about it, but they did say that it is a good idea to leave the shutters or plywood up until we know better.

One theory is that Ivan MAY go over Cuba lengthwise. If it does, it will decrease in intensity greatly. If it runs over Cuba the short direction, it will have plenty of time to get stronger after Hispaniola and Cuba.

Let's all pray for a nice deep trough through the center of the US to help coax Ivan up and away from the entire East Coast.

But don't put your head in the sand. Keep aware and stay safe.

Ted

The hurricane center also said that Ivan is the first storm to intensify this quickly. Also that Fla has been hit 3 times before in 1960 I think it was. wonderful:(
