If FP+ doesn't give a return "paper" ticket, how do we redeem?

I've been trying to figure out the new FP+ system, including reading the very helpful FAQ's that people have been posting here. We are staying offsite. I understand that by staying offsite, we will cannot reserve anything ahead of time....we have to make our FP+ selections by going to a kiosk when we get to the park. When we make our selection....then what? Does it spit out a paper confirmation? Is it linked to our paper ticket? Do we just write down a confirmation number (or take a pic of it)? How do we prove our return time when we get to the attraction?

I'm a little concerned if the FP+ is linked to paper tickets. We are chaperoning a group of high school kids and we are NOT requiring them to stay with us adults, but we ARE requiring them to give park tickets back to us once we get inside the parks. Apparently (I've been told by the band director), this has worked well in the past, as the adults use the park tickets to get a bunch of FP's and pass out to the kids and they go on their way, meeting up with us only if they need new FP's. If the new system ties the FP+ reservation to the actual admission tickets, then we adults will have to either go to each ride entrance with the kids, or allow them to hold onto their own tickets for the duration.

Just trying to wrap my head around the new rules before we have the info meeting before the trip. Thanks!

There are no more paper fastpasses. The kids will need the cards to use a FP+ at an attraction.

it was explained that the chaperones would take the tickets and do the dirty work of acquiring a bunch of fastpasses with them, then just dole the passes out to the kids. They'll need to have a different plan this time.

Yup.

Honestly, I'm not sure. My guess is to lessen the chance of kids losing tickets? Also lessen the chance of kids leaving the park and returning without anyone knowing. The band director said this was what they do and I didn't question it.

It prevents the kids from sneaking back to the hotel and doing the things that unsupervised high school kids do in hotel rooms.

If you're concerned about loss of tickets, you could get each student (and each chaperone, actually) a lanyard with a plastic sleeve for the tickets. They could even use the lanyards to wear pins, birthday buttons, whatever.

Also please make sure you have everyone write their name on the back of their tickets with a permanent marker.

I think that there is a good chance that offsite people will be able to reserve FP+ ahead of time at some point. Right now you go in, go to the FP+ kiosk(s) and pick out your choices. It is register with your band or RFID card and when you get to the attraction, you scan our Band/Card and it will allow you entry if you are there at the proper time.

If you have a smart-phone there is an app that gives you access to the times of your FP's. If not, like myself, I used the camera on my cell phone to take a picture of the screen. If not simply jot the times down on the selection planning sheet that they give out.

Yep that's pretty much the reasons given.

I've been on two such trips but let the kids keep their tickets.

I didn't see it mentioned, but you can ask for your FP+ selections to be emailed to you when you make them. Not that that really helps in your situation, but it works for individuals. . I can't imagine making dozens of FP+ selections at the kiosks at once. I do hope this gets sorted out before you go!

The main problem is that the kids won't have their tickets.

Yeah but as anecdotal accounts point out, they can do that in the parks too.

I am confused



Not really but I am going with DD and DDBFF and I am allowing them to go off if they wish. Glad I know they will need their tickets to use FP+.

Also staying offsite so hoping FP+ gets changed so I can book early
