If Disney cuts the perks for the on-site guests..

We stayed at the Waldorf that has the scheduled buses and I thought I'd hate it. Wrong. I loved the buses, of course the were very nice, comfortable buses.

I don't see how Disney could pull it off, though, because of the high numbers of riders. I always stay onsite when it's just my son and I. I feel protected.

:)

Your hypothetical situation cited the cutting of almost every perk for guests staying at on site resorts. Except one: the dining plan. Would you also see this cut as well? Would you also forsee Disney eliminating all special offers and discounts on resort reservations? In other words- do you forsee the Disney executives completely losing their minds and shooting themselves in their collective foot (feet??)? I can't imagine too many rational adults who would pay the going rack rates for even a value resort if there were not perks or incentives for them to do so.

Hehehe... I guess I didn't forsee those things you have mentioned because they wasn't on my original post. :lmao: I'm no psychic! Lol.. It's just a hypothetical question that I thought of.. :goodvibes Btw.. Discount offers are not part of the perks when staying on property. Discounts are offered when they know they need to fill the rooms. Disney doesn't have to offer us any discounts if Disney is doing excellent profit-wise. Discount is just an icing on the cake! :)

If they get rid of EMH and very limited bus service I may have to think twice whether if I want to stay on-site or off. If we have to pay to park our car at the resort or pay to park at the parks, then I think that's where I will draw the line.

We would not stay on site if these things were cut. Our kids are getting old enough to stay all day and so the afternoon break is nice but getting less essential. Plus we would save a small fortune. We prefer to have a car though we do sometimes use WDW transportation. But if the bus service was not continual... forget it. If I could not have my packages sent to my hotel I would not shop in the parks and would save my shopping for a trip to DTD or my resort gift shop. All I buy are pins and t shirts anyway.

Now what if they cut some of that but added a fast pass perk based on the level of resort you were staying in? Would this make any difference in your decision?

I would stay onsite... BC is a major reason we go to WDW. We love SAB. The location of BC and the ability to walk to 2 parks and the Boardwalk are a major reasons for going, not to mention the endless restaurant choices in that area :)

DME is not going away though. It was introduced as a method to keep guests on site their entire trip and spend all vacation $$ in the world

We would still stay on site. We stay at the Boardwalk CLub Level every year and have friends that work there. That is part of our "Disney" I really don't care about EMH--we paid for it once at the Magic kingdom back in the day. Disney offers us enough of a break from full time jobs, a hectic sports and school schedule of DD, and the real world in general, I am happy with just being there.:lovestruc

If Disney did away with all those things, I would definitely stay off-site. Those perks is the reason I love to go to disney. They make everything so convenient. Plus, I hate driving so I really depend on DME and the disney busses.

The most important perks for me with on site, is DME, and continuous bus service, and EMH. If those were cut out, I'd rent a car, and stay in a non WDW hotel. There are several that offer pretty good rates and are very close to WDW, like the new Hilton adjacent to WDW property.

After many stays we almost always stay at the S&D...but if they cut EMH I'd probably stay at the Waldorf, so yeah they'd lose a bit of my business in terms of the the incentives that S&D pay to WDW and I'd probably eat some of my evening meals at the Waldorf as I'm sure they have at least 1 amazing restaurant.

Oh, and we never take ME after one try on it. It takes FOREVER. Yeah, cabs are pricey, but its not worth the time lost, for us, so that's a zero sum game.

We would still stay on site. We have only used DME on a return trip once. We are planning on doing round trip next year. This is not a make or break for us.

A set bus schedule would not deter us as it would just require planning. We are all great planners based on how far out we book our trips.

We have also never used the dining plan, nor do we plan to use it. We usually do a character breakfast one day, but then eat breakfast in the room the rest of the time. We grab a light lunch and then do a nice dinner or a character dinner.
