If a better deal comes out after you're booked, is deposit just credited to new res?

I have been told to go ahead and book the free dining plan and if a better room only plan comes out, I can switch to the better deal. If I have already paid a $200 deposit, is that just switched to my new ressie? Just want to make sure I don't lose anything.

Yes, that is correct.

You will actually keep the same ressie number but they just modify it for you.

You'll receive a credit to your credit card. If you're within the 45-day mark on a package, they may charge you a $50.00 change fee, though.
