Idiot Drivers

Sorry this is so long but some people make my blood boil.
How can some drivers be oblivious to the danger and the chaos they cause by being in there own little world!!! Last monday a man went into the back of our car while DH was waiting at an island for the way to be clear. Ok he was a decent bloke admitted it was his fault offered to pay cash until he found out there was £500 worth of damage to our car. So this is going through the insurance. Last night we were going to see a band in birmingham. The weather was dreadfull so driving conditions were bad. We were going down a main road 2 lanes one straight on the other to turn right. We were in the straight on lane then this idiot with kids in the car! decided he was in the wrong lane and without looking just pulled out as we were going past him Dave had to swerve and ended up on the pavement!!!!!He almost lost control of the car because this man was so close to us. He just sat there oblivious to what he had just done!!!I now have a lovely red mark on my neck from the seat belt and a painfull shoulder

Quite agreed, you have to watch out all of the time.

I had been driving for 25 years with no accidents whatsoever and was a named driver. Bought my first car last year, first insurance, had it for 6 weeks and then a young lad lost control of his car crossed the central reservation and hit my car head on. Everyone was okay but my car was a write off.

Last month a kid on my estate whilst on his bike came out from behind a van parked to go up the wrong way up the road and crashed into the side of my car as I was going down the road. Fortunately he was okay but a memory I could do without, seeing him on my windscreen. Again not my fault but caused £1000 worth of damage to the car, far better the car than the kid though.

Both times not my fault (as agreed by the police too) but now a lot of the pleasure has gone from driving. Just cannot believe I have been crashed in to when I am trying to build up my no claims but there you go.

The trouble is that you can't just drive for yourself anymore, there are so many idiots on the road that you have to drive for them as well and try to guess what they are going to do next.

We had a lovely day at the village fete yesterday and then came to leave and the road was closed and there were paramedics working on someone in the middle of the road and mangled cars everywhere. I can only assume that there was someone speeding or something - the road is a 30mph limit so how could something that bad happen if not? DH thinks that maybe there was drink driving involved too but it's so sad.

i have just seen a mum and dad get into a two seater van !! two older kids went in the back of the van and mum held a small baby (about 10mths old) on her lap in the front seat

my two kids were disgusted that the parents were flouting the law like that

Seeing things like that really wind me up! I just don't think that they deserve kids when they do things like that - and that includes Britney Spears!

There was a nasty accident by us yesterday a car was on the pavement on its roof there were police, ambulance, fire brigade and the air ambulance so it was obviously a nasty one. Then this morning a road by the merry hill shopping centre was closed off due to another accident don't know whats going on with the way people are driving in the wet conditions.

I agree about you can't just drive for yourself. My BIL is a delivery driver for BARR soft drinks, he has a lorry (10.5 tonne I think), it is bright blue & orange someone went up the back of him last week when he was stationary, the driver claimed he did not see him in a big bright lorry.

I worry about other people sometimes.

You really take your life in your hands don't you Round here a red light means put your foot down - I've even been overtaken (on the wrong side of the road) when I stopped at a set of lights that were already red.

Not to mention the ******** I had to swerve to avoid as s/he reversed up the slip road I was using to join the M6 I gave a good honk of my horn but they continued after I went past.

I have no tolerance for people who don't put their kids in car seats. It has previously been a problem with international students coming to the toddler group I run but luckily not in my time (I'm not sure I could remain composed while I talked to them about it)

Well I drove into work this morning and there is one of those signs at the crash site, you know the ones that they put there when there has been a fatality? SO sad. But how does it happen if you are driving at the speed limit?

Jo - Yes I have no tolerance for people who don't use car seats either. Shelby has develped this fascination with taking her arms out of her seat at the moment and I regularly pull over to put them back in and tighten it up - I doubt that she can breath sometimes!

Oh yes I remember Molly doing that and having to pull over on busy roads to fix it. She has only once undone her seatbelt and DH told her what would happen if we crashed (I thought it was a bit too much info at the time but she hasn't done it since)

My DD figuered out how to open her car seat at quite an early age it was a nightmare trying to get her back in!!!

I have been known to tell Shelby that if she gets hurt in the car then Mommy and Daddy would be sad and Daddy would shout at Mommy! I don't think it gets through though, so she will have to put up with having the life squeezed out of her with the tight straps!

I mostly do motorway driving and some of the things you see on the roads are amazing. People forget that they are driving at high speeds.

Sometimes the cops are useless.

The police don't set the punishments - the courts do that. I'm sure the police are just as frustrated after putting the effort into catching someone, only to see them back on the streets with a slapped wrist

My biggest pet hate is when people do not wear seatbelts! Are they an optional extra on some makes
