I am sorry if this has been asked. I tried the searching using a few different terms and I still can't find anything on it, I get unrelated things when I search.

My question is, do you put any sort of identification on your young kids when in Disney World in case they get lost? If so, what do you use?

Thanks!

We've used idonme.com bracelets for years. You write your info on Tevek paper with a sharpie and it can get wet and be fine. We always talk to the kids before we go anywhere that if they get lost, find someone with a nametag, point to their bracelet and tell the person that Mommy and Daddy's phone number is inside.

DD actually had to use hers on vacation in St Louis this summer. First time ever. We got separated at a museum, and she found a worker, showed the lady her bracelet and they opened it and found our cell number.

We are going to purchase the bracelets where the info is stamped on the inside. Sort of like the Lance Armstrong bracelets.

I make a small card with our names, cell numbers and the resort we are staying at and I laminate it. Then I pin it to the under side of her shirt at the hem. She would just have to turn the hem over to show her card to a CM.

Then when we get to the park each day I point out different CMs in uniforms. Each park has different ones. I don't use the tag method because guests can buy name tags that look a lot like the CM ones.

I'm a firm believer in giving a cell phone (prepaid if you are concerned about losses) to any child who is old enough to understand how to use it. My autistic DS15 has had one for about 5 years, and it allows him to call us and let us know where he is without having to talk to strangers, which he finds stressful, and can be difficult for the strangers, since he can be hard to understand, especially when he's upset. Before that, he had a note, and instructions to find the lady in charge and give it to her.

I write our info (includng cell #s for the phones we have with us) using a sharpie marker and put it in DD shoes ..she was 3 on first visit and I expalined to her what to do if she got lost in advance

We have laminated cards with our kids' name, our names and cell numbers, and the resort we're staying at. They'll wear them in their lanyard holders.
DS also has a cell phone.

I like the shoe idea. Im thinking of laminating their information and hanging it from a lanyard

Our kids know our cell numbers but in the event of getting lost we worry they might forget! So we go to Wal-mart and get the dog tags (they have some disney themed ones!) made --- put our names and cell phone info on them. Then we put them on the kids tennis shoes laces. :) We tell the kids if they get lost to find a CM and show them the tag.

I've seen people talk about these before. They are pretty cool.

I used something similar to this for my son when he went to Disney with my mom. He was 8 so I wanted him to have ID/cell phone #'s on him if he got separated from her. Plus we had our phone number on it in case something happened to my mom while they were down there and they needed to call a parent. It gave me peace of mind knowing that he had it on!

Lee Valley sells little brass "acorns" (for want of a better word) that hold a small piece of paper inside. We put our cell phone numbers inside and safety pin the "acorn" on DD's clothing.

We have done the number or a paper inside the shoe for our older ones, and went to PetSmart where they have a dog tag machine, and had one made for DD and threaded it through her shoelace (cute heart shape). She was five when we did this and was actually showing it to someone when her dad relocated her (dad stopped to look at cars at the end of TT and DD lost track of him.) Now I have two teens with cell phones and DD is old enough to just have a card with our numbers in her waist pack. She knows our numbers but things like that can go right out of your head when you are scared.

There are machines that make dogtag-like jewelry in a few places at WDW (like County Bounty in Toontown). On one of our earlier trips, I had a TinkerBell tag made for my daughter. It has her name and my cellphone number. She wears it in the parks and God forbid she ever gets lost she can show that to a CM. She was around 3 when we did this.

We actually used one of the luggage tags that Disney sends and put a piece of paper inside with our cell numbers and the boys' names. I use the little plastic things to hook them onto the boys' belt loops. I told them that if they are lost, they should go to a CM (we point these out) and tell them that they are lost and Mommy's phone number is on the paper inside their "tails".

We do safety tats.....tatoos with our contact information on them. I LOVE them.....$20.00 for 30 of them, so I get quite a while out of one order. They also have ones that are stickers that you write on however; I prefer the tatoos since they are harder to remove.

That's what we do too. We costumize ours so they already come with our phone numbers on them.

My boys even go swimming with them and they stay on.

Peace of mind for field trips, water parks, playdates, etc and they are super cute!

I have 3 kids 2 of which are special needs. The oldest of which is old enough to be on his own (23). There have always been times when they have wandered of or tried. We take a luggage tag. We put their names. Diagnosis, weight and height meds and dosage on the tags. We also list our names and cell #'s. My DD attaches here to her lanyard. She likes to trade pins so it doesn't bother her. My son however prefers to attatch his to his belt loop. The only reason I can get him to wear it is because he knows that if he was to have a siezure it is for his safety. My DD likes to decorate hers with disney stickers.

We made little cards for each of the kids. On the front my Uncle designed a logo for our vacation since we'd already unofficially named it. The front also had the child's name on it. On the back there was a picture of the child and contact numbers for every adult in our party with the parent of that particular child being first.

I wasn't nuts about having his name right out there but I figured anyone interested could hear me calling him by name anyhow. Further, the CMs noticed often and called him by name which he loved.

Here's a picture where you can see his name tag.

On our 1st family trip in '08 we put all the info in the kids shoes. Last trip in March, we got the temporary tattoos and put our cell number on it and put our info in their shoes. The tattoos didn't come off until a couple weeks after we got back!
