I need help. My fiance and I were originally going on a short trip to Disney this summer for my birthday. But he and I thought it might be a good idea to bring his best friend along. Well, her and her two children dd (1) and ds (7). It'll be her first trip in a long time and the kids first trip ever.
It'll be a short trip, only two days for the kids. One at Magic Kingdom and the second at Hollywood studios. My fiance and I want to make it extra special. We're gonna try and surprise them with dinner at chef mickey's, but I wanted to know what other little things we could do to really make the little boys face light up, and in turn, his mothers.

Get them "1st Visit" buttons from Guest Relations.

Be sure they get Mickey ears with their names embroidered on them.

Since you're planning on Chef Mickey's, definitely make sure they have autograph books - I suggest making your own so they can be personalized.

And Disney apparel would really make the trip fun. You could purchase online (Disney Outlet has great sales, right now). And I absolutely love what the Disboutiquers do, and I know some of them are willing to sell creations.

You could try to time it so they can wake up Tinkerbelle at Tinkerbelle's Treasures (if not, stop by and let them peek into the keyhole).

Eat Mickey Mouse ice cream!!!

On the way to Chef Mickey's (or back to MK), ask to sit in the front car with the driver (you may have to wait, so allow plenty of time if attempting before dinner). They'll get Monorail Drivers Licenses.

I hope you all have a wonderful time at WDW!

We were there for out first time ever in Dec with our 3 and 4 yr old. I think just everything being what it is is wonderful to them. The cast members everywhere make everything just so special. THe things that stick out that my kids just loved were the character meals (breakfast at CHef mickeys and at Crystal Palace) CP was cheaper, I actually prefered the food by a smidgen, and we got 8 ADR and the park opened at 9.
They always had tshirts that were DIsney. Things I picked up throughout the months of waiting and planning. Even 2nd hand stores.
OH!!! Yes, Spectro Magic parage at MK! My kids LOVED it. We brought those neon glow stick necklaces with us, but they suckered their Dad into getting flashy necklaces. ALl the kids seemed to have something that lit up, so I suggest making sure you get them something like that for the parade. It's so pretty and magical. I love that parade! From what we could tell, best spot would be right in front of the door at Pecos Bills. But get there at least 30 mins ahead of time. SEnd someone to get some snacks. Their popcorn is SO yummy!! Slushies are really good too!
I just asked my son what his favorite part of DIsney World was, and he said the go karts at MK. Where you get the license.
They would have loved a balloon...they are huge, but they were $10 a piece. So instead we said lets find a toy that was $10 for each of them. Well, that wasn't an easy task!!! But my daughter found a Tinkerbell bead bracelet that was like $7 and our son got a backpack thing with spaceship toys in it. Just letting them pick things out and making their own decsions.. kwim?
I hope I have helped. Now Im SO excited to go back, I can't wait. There is SO much to do at MK for all ages, we will always have something new there to do! :)

OH!!! Yes, as well... Dollar store things. Im not sure when you said you were going, but you could do up a basket or bag of just dollar store stuff. Temp tattoos, lanyards, pins, cookies, bracelets or hair acessories, you can even get solid colour tshirts and get iron on transfers if you want to save a few dollars :)
Hollywood studios-the kids LOVED the... oh i can't think of what its called... The fireworks performance at night. Block Party was cool, but we stayed back because of the crowd. Kids loved the Power Rangers. Highschool musical. They are listing things off as we speak. lol Oh, and since we are from ATlantic Canada, the lizards running around was a highlight. My son thought that was just the best thing in the world!! He even freaked out when I went to sit down thinking I was sitting on one, and of course, with him flipping out, I thought I was sitting on one too! lmao!! KIDS! ;)

i know my suggestions are pretty simple, but for kids, it really is a lot to take in esp first time, so make the little things count! LIke 9am opening MK, there are bubbles everywhere from cast members or bubble machines. We let the kids chase some bubbles for a few mins because they were just having a blast. Some of the best pics are just them living in the moment. :)

Again, have a great time!!!! ANy more questions, just ask!

Thanks for the info. I've never been to Magic Kingdom for rope drop. I WANT to chase the bubbles. LOL. Just found out we may have an addition of my best friend and her dd (2.5) so this will be a very diverse, interesting trip. Your advice is greatly appreciated.

Awesome!! Im so excited for you guys. Im trully excited whenever someone either tells me they are pregnant or tells me they are going to DIsney World. To me, same excitement. lmao!

Im trying to remember if you said there were girls or boys. I just wanted to share my 'tonight's story' with you. And Im making a very long story short. There is a salvation Army up the road. I know the girls there by now. One is a DW freak like me, all we talk is Disney. I asked her last week if she would have seen any Disney Princess costumes as they always put away costumes until Halloween. She said she would try to find out. Tonight I walked in, she went out back, brought 3 dresses out. One Snow White DW dress, one Disney Store Ariel Dress, and a sort of cheaper Belle...but still cute. She only charged me 2.99 a dress and then half off because it was Happy hour and all clothes were 50% off! You can just imagined, I almost peed myself with excitement. The look on my 3 yr old dd's face! She was SO excited!!!!
Again long story short, if you are good at hunting and finding deals, you could find a princess gown for them. If it'ssomething they are into. OH! and for boys, Bippity Boppity Boutique has hair gel (in diff colors) for something like $8. My son wants that when his sister is being primed. OMG! OMG! Im so excited! You'd think I dont have a life. Totally obsessed. Yay! Your going to DW! lol Yup, too much coffee today.

Take care!!!

My DS7, was 6 on last trip, said his favorite place to eat was Crystal Palace, favorite rides were BuzzLightyear and Pooh, and favorite thing of all was the Pooh play area and Honey I Shrunk the Kids Play area. Another thing we will do on trip this May is make his own light saber in DD.

How sweet of you! One thing I've done the last few times we've gone with my sister, her DH and my nephew (8) and niece (3.5) is that "Mickey" will leave them a note each morning - usually letting them know which park we're going to, but also giving them a little gift (i.e., sunglasses, chocolate coins, etc.)

Of course, we were only going to go the one year, and are now set to go for the third year in a row, so this is getting a bit expensive for Aunt Karen - I mean Mickey Mouse - but it's worth it to see them run into our room with the latest note from Mickey!!

Take them to the Barber Shop on Main St. They can have their hair cut and and decorated with pixie dust. The 7 year old will love it!!!

I've done the notes from Mickey & little gifts; great idea; the kids love it.
If you are going into DTD at all, check out the toy store. Boys can make pirate swords & girls can fill boxes with My Little Pony stuff. They can also get boxes of Mr. Potato Head & parts. Definitely try to get the 1st seat in the monorail.
My kids loved that. CP and Chef Mickey's are great buffets. You can try to do them for breakfast b4 going into MK or for lunch to take a break from the day.
SpectroMagic is super. Be sure to bring the autograph books. We had the characters always sign the left-hand page and kept the right-hand page blank.
We took a picture of the kids with each character, and then put the pictures in the autograph book next to the signature. The kids looked at that autograph book for a long time afterward. Best of luck! You're so sweet to try to make this special for them. I'm sure they'll love it!!

For my boy's 1st trip they were 6.5 & 2.5. I made these awesome baskets myself and shipped them down ahead of time and then had them on their beds when we got to their rooms. They had a note attached (found Mickey cards at Hallmark) Have a magical time. Looking forward to seeing you soon. Love Mickey & Friends.
I foung great items at Disney store, Dollar tree, Toys R' Us, Target, Michaels. I put all kinds of Disney theme snacks it it too(Disney Fruit snacks). I also found them their own Disney disposable cameras at Walgreens...they were a big hit!
The boys still talk about how awesome the baskets were!:)
