Okay, my DS is very spoiled! He doesn't know it yet, but we are going for 9 days May29-June 7. We are not telling him, just putting the kids in the car and driving down (we drive all night anyways).

We are focusing on Star Wars weekends. I plan on ordering a cake one night that we are there (not sure where yet). But, I was really wanting to do a few little surprises here and there during our trip. I would like to know if anyone has done anything creative (little gifts).

I do plan on telling the front desk when we check-in so maybe they will send a balloon or a card during our stay.

About the cake since your driving I'd recommend going offsite to Walmart or another grocery store an buying a cake, maybe you or dad can need to do something 1 day an go out an get it while the others goes to park an you can meet up latter. Once you at disney you can call an order cake maybe with a Star Wars theme since the trip is focused around Star Wars Weekend.

Mention at all TS resturants that DS is having a birthday some will give him a dessert others won't. Buffets do this too.

Gifts if he's really into Star Wars a tshirt an I think there are some that might only be avalible during Star Wars Weekends. Sneak an buy it surprise him later with it.

How about the cheap disposible cameras? Or even a small cheap camera of his own disney perfect place to start taking own pics.

If you go with the camera a photo album to keep his own pics in the next day.

9 yr olds prolly still love the light up spinners or light sabars I'd pick that up before going to disney tho.

You could get his surprise out for the day while he's in shower an put it on his bed Or some days you can forget something in room an go back put his suprise out then. If small enough surprise take it with you give it to him when you eat. Maybe 1 moning set it by his bed so it's the 1st thing he sees when he wakes up.... KEEP the kid on his toes lol

Remember to get his birthday gift card to spend if you will be there on his actual birthday. You might need his birth certificate to prove his DOB (I'm not sure, but I assume you would--otherwise it would be too easy for people to cheat the system).

A disposable camera is a great idea!!! I could buy him a little Disney album for him to keep his own pictures in.

He is very easy to please and I want this to be a special trip!!! :-)

Make sure to get the buttons that say It's my Birthday at the begining of the day. My daughter turned 5 on our last trip and people kept telling her happy birthday all day and being extra kind! She go a special message on the phone in the morning of her birthday, from a character. Also we planned a special dinner at LTT, with a cake and my whole family went in on the PAl Mickey for her, she loved it! The rest of the trip she kept trying to tell everyone that it was her birthday "Everyday"! We are going back in Oct again for her 8th birthday, my other daughter is so unhappy that we don't go in July when it's her birthday!

Don't stress out about the "extra" surprises. there's no way he will give them much attention with all that's going on for him with his Birthday button at WDW:goodvibes Another tip, as you approach the characters for a photo, make it known that it's his birthday and the characters will do the rest:cool1:

That is the week we will be there too for my DS's bday he will be 12. His bday is the 5th. I have a feeling DHS will be super crowded that day so we probably won't go there that day but I made an ADR for a bday dinner at Ohana.
