Hello! A co-worker of mine is hoping to plan a SURPRISE trip to WDW for her adult children (and their spouses) and the grandchildren. She wants to call a "family meeting" and, without saying a word, simply present them each with a small wrapped "present"-her way of announcing the surprise. ANY IDEAS ON WHAT THAT SMALL WRAPPED "PRESENT" COULD BE? She really wants to be imaginative! Thanks for any and all ideas! :goodvibes

They used to sell disposable cameras at Target with the Disney characters on them...I bought my daughter a princess one. I don't know if they still have them or not, though. You could get regular ones and put Disney stickers on them with a note about needing the camera to capture the memories on their trip or something like that.

Maybe a Disney trading pin for each person? You could really be creative and have Mickey hats with ears for everyone....get their names on the backs already and everyone could wear them into the park the first day! Or how about giving each family a bottle of pixie dust and say "Let the magic begin!" Just a few ideas...

Don't know if they still have them but I think at one point I saw walkie talkies in the Mickey or Princes style. (also come in handy for contact in the park)

This is what we did for our kids to announce a trip to Disney:

We wrapped up their autograph book & pen from a previous years trip in one box, and the other box had their pressed penny collection holder with the previous years pressed pennies!
Of course as soon as they opened them, they were able to figure it out, but I said "you are gonna need these on our next trip, we are goin to DISNEY in thirty days!"
Then we told them to go to their room, & we had taped a paper chain (with 30 links, one for each day) to their closet door. They were THRILLED to wake up each morning for the next month..they took turns tearing off a link & while it got shorter & shorter, they got more & more excited! :Pinkbounc
I am sure this has been done before but it was really a MAGICAL way to get my boys ready for our trip! :wave2:

A variation of this & the above ideas may work for you! :flower:

Well this may not work for them since it is a big family thing but we went on vacation and we went to DL my sister and I were sitting there bouncing in our seats in the taxi van. There was this other family who had 2 boys, well they were getting up to go to there summer camp, well they did not know that they were going to the airport and well they went to the airport and got on the plane and did not know that they were going to DL. They had no idea. They probably thought my sister and I were crazy for sitting in the van bouncing off the walls about going to California. They did not realize where we were until we got near the parks. My mom kept telling us to be hush hush because they did not know anything. But that is an idea.

A couple years ago my family surprised my aunt and her family at christmas with a disney vacation. This is what they did.

Wrapped a BUNCH OF "CLUES"
We didn't come right out with the obivious (sp?)

Example! We planned on driving so we packed a fork! (Fork in the road) with a little riddle.

Think of little "clues" you can use to keep them guessing and them hit them with the news!

This has such a great effect on people and the guess game part is fun!

Gosh, as an adult child, a small box with the actual disney ticket would really knock my socks off. If she didn't want to do that, how about suitcases, with some disney stuff inside and the itinerary or something or even justt a WDW luggage tag in a box with their name and the resort address. I just have to say that your coworker is completely lovely to do this for her family. I hope one day when our kids are grown that we might be in a position to do this for them (of course we would have to go with them!!)

DH just surpised me & now we get to surprise the kids with a trip to WDW!!

I love the idea of the Mickey ears. That would be a fantastic way to surprise her family! And what a great picture that would be, of everyone gathered for the holidays with mouse ears on.

What about making homemade Passports with locations and hints...
On each page put something that may be a hint as to where they are going. Obviously the countries in EPCOT.... maybe something to hint at each land in MK.... in AK it could be Everest, Safari, Bugs, Lion King....MGM could be France Race Cars, Hollywood..................
I would have fun making those and watching them turn the pages...maybe leave room so a picture could be added from each location...........maybe get a Hidden Mickey or Treasure Hunt book to add hints on each of these pages and see if they can find them while there.......each person or couple could have a different hint....

Last year I surprised my kids with a treasure hunt. I wrote a silly poem, and at the end of each verse it sent them to someplace in the house where they found a clue (Mickey slipper, Disney deck of cards, Disney pen). Then the last clue led them to the basement where I had all the suitcases packed, and Disney tee shirts for each of them on top with a sign saying "You're leaving for WDW in the morning!" They were really surprised, and couldn't stop jumping around!

You can get each of them a shirt with Mickey on it, their names (or the family name) and the dates you are going (April 2007). Zazzle.com has the shirts cheap and in lots of sizes.

Oooh...another thought....get everyone socks that wick off perspiration and some moleskin. The socks will get some weird looks (afterall, doesn't everyone's family make jokes about giving socks for Christmas) and then you could reveal that they are going to need the socks and moleskin for all the walking they will do at Disney.

How about a globe keychain? (The cheap metal ones.) With a note you are giving them the world. :)
