So I'll be leaving in less than two weeks for WDW with my BF and his 10 year old son :cool1:

Now I'm wondering if I should spend the money on Disney Florist to have a welcome basket there when we arrive. This is the 10 year old's first trip and my BF's first trip since junior high.

But then we have Valentine's Day going on when we are there too! I was thinking of having something delivered that day too.

The issue is $$. If I do both we're talking at least $60+.

Does anyone have any other ideas, i.e. more affordable, to welcome them AND celebrate Valentine's Day? I am so not creative so I need your help!!:goodvibes

For the 10 year old, how about getting a pressed penny book and then giving him a roll of quarters and a baggy of shiny pennies. Maybe print out some locations of different pressed penny machines and make it a week long event to collect them. You could have the quarters and pennies ready before you get there and get the book in the gift shop right away. I've heard the M&M tube containers are great for holding the coins.

Or maybe an autograph book with a fun pen, also something that can be bought as soon as you get there.

Another idea is to get the Hidden Mickey book and look for them during the visit, we had our book before we arrived, but I know I saw them in several places in the parks for sale.

Have a cute bag all ready and put in whatever you decide to go with and you have an instant gift bag for him. Have fun!

Whether you use Disney Florist or a less expensive gift basket (we use pixiedustoccasions dot com), they will not be in your room when you arrive.

For Disney Florist, the item was delivered during the 2nd day when we were at the parks. They do a spectacular job but they are not the cheap.

For the gift basket from Peg, it was waiting at the resort upon checkin. It was brought out to us when we were getting our welcome packet. It was for first time visitors and I had included ears with names, autograph book/pen, Epcot passport, etc. It was a darling basket and the price was very reasonable.

When we took my grandson for his first visit, I had little bags every morning for him. It included a note from a character, a shirt for the park that day (thanks to the creative design people here on the disboards and some cheap t-shirts and iron on transfer sheets) and usually some little toy/Disney trinket.

I think your money would be bettter spent on going out to a kickoff meal when you get there, like Chef Mickeys. Nothing like a character buffet to get you in the mood for some Disney magic. The other suggestions would be to let them pick out some Mickey Ears and take a nice pic of you guys in your ears. :goodvibes

Maybe you could order something from Disney shopping (like the ears) and have it shipped to the hotel.
