Note that both the Crystal Gateway Marriott and Crystal City Courtyard Marriott are further away from the metro station.

You are correct about the distance, but he Crystal Gateway Marriott offers the same easy access to the metro as the Crystal City Marriott via a lobby walkway "tunnel" into the underground shopping area. I'm sure the distance is more pronounced above ground, but after staying at both several times the walk didn't seem to be any different to me.
