Ideas for the gap between debarkation and our flight home?

With a 3:30 flight, you're not going to have a lot of time. Sadly, TSA at Orlando can be brutal at times (upwards of 2 hours). For me, I'd be more comfortable just heading for the airport on the last bus (around 9:15) getting to the airport around 10:15-10:30. There are lots of shops, restaurants there.

Absolutely. Even with a car (as you stated later) I'd just toodle around Canaveral and then head back.

We're big "use our Universal APs for a few hours before going back ot the airport" people, but not with a 3:30 flight. Not even a remote chance.

Also, don't buy into the horror stories about the Orlando airport TSA lines.

LOL. You want to take a chance that you will continue having your luck at MCO, you go for it. But don't dismiss *other peoples' experiences* to help another person make plans. Not to mention, when PS mentioned 2 hours she didn't know the OP had Precheck. And even Pre isn't fabulous all the time at MCO. We have directly experienced that, and we don't travel at peak times. MCO can easily be horrid.

If this is your husbands first cruise I wouldn't try to cram in something to do the last day to fill time, it's going to leave a rushed crappy taste in his mouth.

Ew at the mental image, but I absolutely agree with you.

With a 3:30 domestic flight, and this is assuming Pre (b/c DH gets it with Global Entry and if we're booked together we get it too), we are still walking in the door of the airport at 1:30. That means we're pulling into the rental return at 1 so we're not rushing. That means if we're at Uni or WDW we're leaving BY noon, meaning in the car driving away. If at Disney we're adding a bit more time because for us it seems 417 takes longer than 528. Also, we have to fill up with gas, and we are not comfy filling up before we hit the toll roads, so there's getting off and back on the toll road to account for. So that's leaving the area at 11:45ish.

Going the other way...if we've disembarked at 8, then it's an hour out to Uni or WDW = 9am. Parking and getting to an entrance somewhere is 30 minutes. So we have from 9:30 to 11:45, except that's not taking into account getting back to the car.

I wouldn't even get a day room, because checkin for that I believe is at 10, and of course you can sit and watch the security lines if you get a room with a balcony overlooking TSA, but it's still not enough time for that $100 to make sense for us. (for us!)

I would spend my time by NOT rushing off the ship. Get the car. Then I'd check out a beach for half an hour or so in Canaveral, I might hop into RonJon's for the weird and overwhelming experience, make sure my bags are checked correctly. Then leisurely head out an hour or so before I need to be returning the car.

3:30 flight doesn't give us anywhere near the time it feels like it gives, once you start breaking it all down and filtering through your comfort level.

I also want to caution that security at Orlando takes forever. Last time we were there it took over 2 hrs to get through and we almost missed our flight.

I want to add my in-laws have the prescreening pass and only made it through a bit before we did

We had some time to kill after our last cruise, so we used the time to check out one of the Disney outlets and grab some lunch.
