DH and I have a split stay with free dining the first 4 days, then renting points for the last 4. We won't use most of our snacks and need ideas for things that will still be edible for the kids by time we get home. Our son loves the trail mix, so I know I can get a couple bags of that. Most of the other pre-packaged stuff doesn't seem that appealing. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Some of the rice krispie treats are huge and amazing, in their own sick way. I brought home three BB-8s as gifts last time I went. (one for me, of course)

When are you going? if there is an epcot food festival your snacks are good for the food items even if they are priced higher than the rules say..

We are going mid-September, which is Food and Wine time, right? I never thought to use the snacks there. But I myself am not very adventurous when it comes to food. I suppose this would be a great opportunity to try new things. It's "free", right?!

As for the Rice Krispies treats, my daughter's best friend is obsessed with them. How long do you think they would stay fresh? Maybe I'll bring a few storage bags so they don't dry out. But now that I know I can use the credits for food and wine I might not have any snacks leftover! Though it seems like a lot of food to eat in one day. DH and I often share a quick service meal because I hate to be stuffed and then walk around the parks in the heat. I'm not even sure if we will use all our quick service meals, especially with a table service every night as well.

I would suggest using the snack credits for Food and Wine. At F&W we typically don't eat at a TS or QS restaurant but kind of nibble our way around the World - my DH and I split everything though so we can try more things without getting stuffed. Like you, I really dislike feeling "full" when we are walking around the parks, especially in the heat. There honestly isn't much I would want to bring home from WDW since we don't usually eat a lot of junk food. If we have a longer flight or a long drive home I have sometimes bought things like trail mix, pretzels, etc. if we aren't going to be able to eat decent meals. But in general we just don't snack very much, even at WDW so the dining plan isn't a good option for us.

The rice krispie treats travel well and keep for a while. My kids had them as their school snacks week after we returned. You can refrigerate after you get home. We let our kids have bags of chips for breakfast one morning when we were out of meals, but had lots of snacks left on the plan. Bad parenting, maybe, but it was vacation and we had to use up the snacks!

We did the DDP years ago when it was much less expensive and tips were included. It was a great deal but way too much food. We had leftovers overflowing the fridge in our villa at BW. There were seven of us on that trip, so you can imagine how much food was wasted. Last day we went to the bakery and used up our credits on sandwiches that we ate for dinner at MCO.

This trip we are celebrating our 30th so I thought it would be nice to do some sit downs. We would normally do only one or two during a week paying OOP, so doing four over the five days at the start of the trip will definitely be a lot. That's why I was trying to think of things I could bring home to the kids since we won't eat all that food.

Silly question maybe, I know I can't use a quick service to get three snacks (I think they used to allow that???), but can I trade one quick service for one snack? It would not be the best use if trying to maximize value, but I also don't want to not use them at all. If only they could last for all eight days, now that would solve all our issues!!!

Thanks for the suggestions!

F&W is a great place to use your snack credits. We are not super adventurous eaters either, so using a snack credit is a great way to try new foods.

We also like to take the rice crispy treats home, they do seem to last a long time. I put them in the freezer at the hotel.

You probably know this, but just in case...
You can use your DP credits up until midnight of the day you check out of your first reservation. That may help you use your credits.
And as of last year, you were able to change your QS credits for snack credits to use at F&W. Also, you may want to use your snack credits for your breakfast/3rd meal of the day.

My husband always uses extra snacks credits to take home bags of nuts. He likes the idea of stealing Chip and Dale's nuts. The candy counter at Goofy's has cookies, chocolate covered mashmallows, fudge, etc. I always take some of this home with extra snack credits and they are good more than a week later.

I was thinking of going to Goofy's our last night since by that time we will be checked in at Saratoga, figured we could get rid of snack credits there. My daughter does love those chocolate covered marshmallows. I just didn't know if they would keep until we got home.
Also thought about picking up a couple sandwiches at Artist's Point that last night and eating them for lunch the next day. I am so cheap!
Good idea to use a credit or two for breakfast, too. I really hate to waste them, so maybe we will hit the food court early a couple days.

I would be quoting you all, but I am also a bit technologically challenged! Thanks for all the great suggestions!!

With extra snack credits we take home the pre wrapped Minnie's Bake Shop cookies. They are the same as the ones in the Candy Co. cases, but are sold wrapped in the MK Confectionery, the larger park shops like Emporium and Mouse Gears, and in some of the resort shops too. I have not seen them in every resort shop, just now and then.

The cost is about $4 for one large thick cookie and they are 1 snack credit. They freeze really well! We often keep a few in the freezer and take them later when we are needing a Disney fix.

We have bought those, Tinka. The raspberry/white chocolate are great, even though I normally don't care for white chocolate. i forgot about them. I normally make DH go through the rack to get the latest expiration date so we get the freshest cookies!

Snacks make great breakfast meals too. The made to order parfeit is delicious! Another idea, is to use snacks for a quick bite at the airport if you have a late flight. We went to Las Halles right before leaving the park, and got some croissant sandwiches, and other pastries. So we got a nice "dinner" out of the snacks.

We love taking Goofy Gummies home! They last for a very long time. We basically stockpile them. Every time a student goes to WDW, I pay them to bring some home for me! :D

We had a bunch of credits left over and my nephews loved going to the Goofy Candy company and did the custom rice krispy treats. We had left over QS also and they used one for 3 of them. I think they do they custom marshmallow sticks also.

This! We also got several bags and some Chip & Dale pretzels and cheese crackers.
