Ideas for surprising kids with Disney Cruise

We are surprising my DS with a Disney Cruise as a Christmas gift. We don't sail til June, so I wanted to make the unveil really big and special. Any ideas? Any stories where you surprised someone????

We did the free character calls for our kids and they loved it! Who wouldn't want Mickey Mouse to call them?!

You could make up some simple puzzles for them to put together, a pool, a beach, then the ship. Print out pictures, put on cardboard and cut out.

Do some sort of scavenger hunt with clues leading to little gifts-bathing suit, sunscreen, water shoes, then maybe a Mickey tshirt at end and I like the confetti poppers to shower them with when they open last gift

I don't have kids so don't know how age appropriate these ideas are lol

We have done this twice. The first time, my DDs were 9 and we got scrabble tiles and buried letters in a box full of sand the spelled out Disney Cruise and that was the last gift they opened. They were opening other gifts that included, flip flops, swim suit, towels, sunglasses, etc. The second time we surprised them on their 18th birthday and we typed up really hard clues and put them in balloons and we filled their room with the balloons. It took them quite a while to figure it out, but I think they had more fun sucking the helium out of the balloons! It was fun to hear when they first discovered their were clues in the balloons.

We surprised our dd6 with a wdw trip. On her birthday we pulled up to magic kingdom...she was so surprised and it was fabulous fun. We drove from Texas and told her we were going to Louisiana. Good thing she didn't know much about geography Now for her golden birthday we are going on the Alaska cruise. We will board the ship on her birthday and have no intention of telling her until that very morning. We absolutely adore the surprise of it and avoiding the constant questions is a big perk too.

If I were going to tell ahead (which I may do in the future since my son doesn't have a summer birthday) I would do the character call and stealing an idea I read recently about traditions, I would gift wrap Special pajamas for everyone in the family to wear on the cruise.

LOVE the Pajama idea! I am thinking of doing small happy type gifts for the 10 or so days leading up to the cruise (since its forever in kid years from Christmas to Summer and that would be perfect for one of those days!
