Anyone have any ideas for a romantic evening for 2 on Friday June 3rd i nWDW. Quite frankly we'd be happy at McDonalds or eating PB&J in our room. But I'd like to do something nice. It's going to be the night we celebrate our 15th anniversary.

We will put the kids in one of the kids clubs for a few hours. Right now we're thinking about making a reservation at Teppan Edo and then just hanging out in World Showcase by ourselves. Anyone have any other suggestions for grown up time.

And after Epcot...relaxing on the beach of the Polynesian with a cool adult beverage and watching the fireworks...?

Ooo, that's a nice idea. We were thinking Sandcastle Club for the kids but maybe the 11 yo will have to suck it up and go to the Neverland Club again.

I can give all kinds of ideas, Ill get back to this thread later, don't have time right now

My dear C&G's Mama,

You're going to make me cry now but I'll share some of the things Bruce and I did for our anniversaries at Disney.

For our 1st in 2007, we had dinner at California Grill at the Contemporary. We had an early reservation but, with our receipt, they allowed us back up so we could watch the MK fireworks from their observation deck.

We did the Wishes dessert party at MK this last Gay Days and that was nice. We also went to Jiko at Animal Kingdom lodge and loved that. For this last anniversary, we went to the 3D Dessert Discovery at F&W. I'm glad I shelled out the money for that one.

Whatever you decide to do, I would definitely have cocktails in the lounges at the Deluxe level resorts. My favorites are at Grand Floridian and Animal Kingdom Lodge. GF has live music in the evenings, if I remember correctly.

Luv 'n' Stuff

Plan on eating at Kona then. Afterwards, a nice walk around the torch-lit grounds.

Or perhaps drop the kids at the Poly club and the two of you walk over to the GF (very romantic at night) for dinner at Narcoossee's and perhaps watching the fireworks from there.

Dinner at the Yacht Club then an Illuminations Cruise wins it for me.

Even if it's cold it's not bad as you get given blankets and you can snuggle. :)

If you like seafood, I would suggest Narcoosee's over Kona. Kona seems a bit too casual for such a special evening, no? It is good tho, don't get me wrong lol.

Good point about Kona. There is a lot of traffic unless you get a table away from the railings and the walkway.

We had a late dinner at CRT and timed it for the fireworks. We also made sure to tell them it was our anniversary and they gave us free champagne flutes (total surprise).
Then we headed back to Poly for grown-up drinks on the beach.

Congratulations!!! 15 years...wow...

I have to say we prefer the food at Citrico's over Narcoosee's. In fact, we think Citrico's is the best of all of the monorail restaurants.

We used to love Kona, but they started on a downhill slide that eventually ended with us saying we weren't going back. It probably depends what you order, but my shrimp was along the lines of what I would expect from Denny's.

Thank you everyone so much for the wonderful suggestions. I'm not very good at the romantic stuff and I want this to be special. I'm leaning towards the suggestions around the monorail resorts and I was thinking the Wave, but I'll have to check Citrico's.

"The Boss", DP makes the ADRs so I'll have to make a good case for whatever I decide.

As for the 15 years. It's hard to believe. I feel very lucky to have her in my life. Our first date was December 24th (yes, Christmas Eve) 1994. We had a Union Ceremony (what we called it back in the day) on May 25th, 1996 at a local park officiated by a friend. Then we went to Disney on our honeymoon and were at the Magic Kingdom for Gay Days (by sure chance, this was before the internet boon).

So thank you all so much for helping give me ideas to make the 15th a special one.

We have only been to the Wave once. It's very dark in there! :rotfl2:
I was not feeling well that night so I fear my impressions of the food were probably skewed by that.

Citrico's has HUGE windows so if you go in the early evening it is nice and light. Their menu is always changing but I always find something good to order. We have never been disappointed there, and we go there on every trip.

I can't add anything to the romantic angle, since I'm always at WDW with my kids, but I did want to wish you an early Happy Anniversary!

Opinions, thoughts. Yes I'm a little OCD about this but ADRs are a week from today. I know JSG you feel strongly about Citricos and Bob likes California Grill. The GF has a kids' club so Citricos gets points for me there and the only time I've ever dined at GF was for the Character Breakfast. So a grown up experience would be nice.

On the other hand I've always been intrigued by the Contemporary and have never eaten there. And the thought of dining on the 15th floor is appealing. But on the other hand we plan on Chef Mickey's with the kids on this trip, but obviously this will be a totally different experience.

Thanks. Once I have the ADRs ironed out, I should be obsessing a little less 'cause there won't be much I can do after that until we get there.

Congratulations on your Anniversary!!!

OK, since you ASKED...;)

We have been to Cali Grill several times. We always end up seated WAAAAY over to the left where the view is of the birds roosting on top of BLT. :scared: I am afraid of birds.

We really like sushi, and the sushi there is good. When we went there in 2009 our meal was VERY rushed. I mean dining in fast forward. We were in and out in about 55 minutes, which is light speed for a signature meal. We had sushi, appetizer, entree, and dessert and we were NOT on a dining plan so it should have taken a bit longer.

Service wasn't bad, but it was rushed. The courses hit the table boom-boom-boom one after the other. Like they were on a MISSION to turn that table. All of the entrees were very, very salty. I am not a fan of super salted food so I might be sensitive, but even DS commented that his food was REALLY salty. I think there is a big difference between flavorful and just blatantly SALTY. Our ADR was probably about 7 PM, we were finished by 8 PM, we walked out on the observation deck for a bit but we were NOT hanging around for 2 hours for fireworks.

We think Cali Grill is overrated. It did not make our list for 2010, and I really only considered it briefly for 2011. As of now it is not on my 2011 list.

OMG, I hate birds! They scare me. Doesn't matter how small they are. And I'm the one that had to chase the sparrows and pigeons out of the attic (the pigeons got in after we had an ice storm and the gutters were ripped off of houses all over the county). Of course I couldn't bring myself to have the gutters replaced until after the pigeons had their babies. The pigeons and I came to an understanding when I had to go up to the attic to retrieve stuff.

I am not afraid of the really teeny sparrows in the Norway pavilion. The big old scarlet ibis, the seagulls, etc. in Frontierland are scary. I am also afraid of ostriches. At home I am afraid of grackles.

A bird came down the chimney at my last nanny job. I packed up the kids and left. My boss had to chase it out with a broom when he came home.

DH made me go to the bird show at AK this year. I was NOT amused.
