ideas for my Ds monkey bday party

I am going to have a monkey birthday party for my Ds first birthday next month. We get back from WDW the 3rd and his party is the 9th so I won't have tons of time to get ready. Here is what I am going to do so far and I am hoping all you creative people can give me some good ideas.

Here is the cake I am doing

I will do a big one like this and a small one like this for him to smash and then some cupcakes with little bananas on them.

I thought about making some banana peels out of felt and having them around but not quite sure where I could put them.

Because of where my Dh works I have access to be able to print anything anysize so I could make large palm trees ect.

I was thinking of yellow plates (though about yellow and brown but couldn't find brown).

ohhh ohhh ohhh I have a picture to send you, but not while I am not work. There is the cutest foam monkeys I made for my daughters "jungle" room. There were so easy and a great decoration. I'll try to get you the picture tonight.

Oh and here is his invitation, I ended up drawing the monkeys in illustrator because I couldn't find any I liked.

I want a monkey birthday!!! Oriental.com has a lot of monkey items for decorations and they deliver real quick. I love the cake and i think yellow plates are perfect. DH and i love monkeys so much we used them as wedding cake toppers hehehe

oh oh oh, this is soooo cool! Jonah (DS) has a safari/jungle themed room, and I was just telling my mom over the weekend that I wanted her to make him a monkey cake for his first birthday! Do you have instructions for this awesome cake?

pigletfairy - your wedding topper is too cute! I love it!!!!

So I got some yellow felt and cut out banan peel shapes and I am going to hot glue (or sew) them together along the tops to make it look like a peel. I am also going to tie pieces of green crepe paper to long strips of it to make vines. I can't wait.

We did a monkey birthday theme for my ds when he turned 5. We were in disney the month before and in epcot, after the 'imagination' ride are a bunch of computers that will take your picture & you can morph yourself. (free). So my son had his picture taken, we morphed him into a monkey and we e mailed it to ourselves. It was soooo cute. We printed out the picture as an 8x10 size, and hung it up as part of his party decorations.
