Ideas for meals in room?

Hello fellow Disney fans! I am going to Disney in October, and even though it'll be my 6th trip--we've never cooked an actual meal there. This time we are staying in a 2 bedroom room, so we will have a full kitchen. One night, we booked a dessert party and I was thinking we could eat dinner in the room beforehand. I was also thinking about doing this the night of our Halloween party, too. Since we're flying, I will not have access to a crockpot or other types of kitchen appliances except those that the room is equipped with.

I was thinking maybe tacos one night, but was wondering about other ideas? I realize sandwich and chips are always an option, too, but I'm trying to think of actual meals that won't be too strenuous to cook. We are a party of 12 total (the additional 4 ppl are in a studio).

Fish cooks fast and easy. Baked potatoes and pork chops. Spaghetti, salad, and garlic bread. Garden grocer will deliver to your villa.

We have done spaghetti, all kinds of baked chicken pretty much anything we do at home. You can always buy the disposable baking pans and dishes at the grocery store if they don't have what you need there.

Don't eat too much on your Dessert Party night. There is lots of food there and you are paying for it.

love the food ideas
You can get milk and butter from the DVC/resort gift shop
Pack Mac & Cheese to make for the gang.

The 2 bedroom DVC comes with pots and pans.
Bring your own dish towel and pot rags.

Ditto on Garden Grocer - check out their website.
Chicken cutlets will cook in 30 minutes or less
Fish fillets will broil in 15 minutes or less.
Order aluminum foil from Garden Grocer - for easy oven pan clean up. Garbage bags also good to pack or order from Garden Grocer.

Goo do the food network website and look for quick and easy meals - great ideas.

Good luck and have fun - it is vacation too.

We've done tv dinners, pizza delivery, pizza window pick-up (Boardwalk or Trail's End), fried chicken to go (Trail's End), gone to Publix and bought sandwiches, or sandwich making/picnic foods.

Be careful cooking in your room - with a dash of salt, a pinch of something else, etc. - you're likely to find it to be a costlier endeavor than anticipated.

Suggestion - split the difference.

Stop at a place like Whole Foods for items that are already prepared.

And you can stock up on additional food stuff while there.

FWIW, Whole Foods does deliver with a few days advance notice. I'm partial to their empanadas.

If your thought is buying all those needed condiments, we plan our meals ahead and bring small ziplocks with what we need.
OP Try posting on the DVC Mousecellaneous thread for dinner ideas.

You have the upper-hand in being so close.

Ziplocks filled in NY may not make the journey.

I do a lot of eating in and always pack any spices I'll need in Ziplock baggies even if I plan on a grocery shop. They weigh next to nothing and it can get very pricey if you buy them after you arrive. As for losing them, my spices are in my suitcase with my clean clothes and undies. If it goes missing I'd have a lot more to worry about than a baggie full of taco seasoning!

There are some resort swap box threads (or were). I thought one of them had some kind of crockpot or hot pot or something. Might check there.

Since you mentioned tacos, I suggest a cheesy pasta taco dish - easier and you don't need shells. Simplest is to just add taco seasoning, ground meat and diced tomatoes (or a can of rotel) to mac and cheese. My kids love it and it is very easy - 2 pan dish.

I have done taco salad for lunch after I have done that for dinner, the meat is cooked and I have all the fixings for a salad.

English muffin pizzas.

Hot sandwiches that o have seen on Facebook, the kind where you layer a baking pan with the bottom of a roll and stack it with some kind of protein, put the top in and bake it...I know there is more to the toppings/filling.

I thought of this, too. Easy, and will feed everyone!

Or you can just do breakfast for dinner. Someone scramble up the eggs, someone man the toaster, and someone use the microwave to crisp up the pre-cooked bacon!

I usually bring a container with spices for goulash.

There is always frozen Stouffers! Paired with a salad and bread, not too strenuous to cook.

Thank you for all of the suggestions!! I don't know why I have such a mental block with meal ideas sometimes.

Good point! That may end up just being a sandwich/chip meal before the party, however, we have a few other nights that we'll probably be cooking also.

Thank you for the helpful hints!! We bought into DVC in 2015, but have only done a few studios--this will be the 1st time with a full kitchen. I am trying to find balance between the meals & not working too hard on vacation. :thumbsup2 We have some Disney newbies who will be with us this time and I think Disney meal prices will give them sticker shock, so I'm trying to come up with some happy medium. Thanks again for your tips!!
