Hi There,

I just got a call from my Kindergarten daughter's room mom. They'll be having a Thanksgiving Feast on next week at school and she asked me to send in a baked good. She said it didn't matter what it was. Does anyone have any ideas what to make. I feel like I've chocolate chip cookie'd everyone out already. Any ideas for 5 and 6 yr. olds - pie, cookies, cupcake, etc.

my mom always sent in sugar cookies...she's the master at baking them, and always used cutters for the holiday or theme, then would tint the confectioners sugar frosting to go with the cutout...

okay i think we'll be making these this weekend....I cant bake them like her, but we can help her do it!.....yessa!

Thanks!

My 1st grader loves Pumpkin Bread.

You could also make pumpkin muffins or mini muffins (kids seem to like those.)

I teach pre-k and we always have corn bread, pumpkin bread and sometimes gingerbread. Our parents send in brownies or cookies.

If you feel like being really creative you can make individual turkeys out of a rice crispy treat rolled into a ball, an oreo cookie, some frosting, and candy corn. I'll see if I can find a link - I'm sure it's on the internet somewhere! I can't really visualize how I did it, but they were really cute.

Ok - can't find a link, but I'll describe it just in case anyone is interested. Twist the oreo in half, put some chocolate frosting on it and stick the rice crispy ball (about 1 1/2 in?) on top. Frost the other half, line the top part with some candy corn to look like turkey feathers, and stick it to the backside of the ball. Use a little frosting to stick another candy corn on for the head of the turkey.

I did find other recipes on the net - they just use the cookie and a chocolate kiss. I'm just sort of partial to rice crispy treats! Boy, I wish we could eat oreos and candy corn (allergies). I'd be making these again! I'll have to do some shopping re the marshmallow hats - those should be easy to do with substitutions as necessary.

When Ds's were in Kindergarten, all the Kindergarten classes got together for a Thanksgiving feast. I doin't recall everything that they had, but it included corn bread which the parents made, butter which they made in class (they loved this and were constantly making it at home after that), and applesauce that they made in class. They also all made pilgrim hats and Indian headbands.

I make choc. pilgrahm hats! Very cute and super easy!
Buy a cookie that has a choc. bottom, Keebler makes some. Put it on wax paper with the choc side up.
In a double boiler melt choc chips. Then dip marshmellows into the choc. Coat (use a toothpick to dip the mashmellow) then put that on top of the cookie. Buy the yellow frosting in a tube or can and make a little yellow buckle.
Very simple, and cute!

Thanks so much everybody! You've given me such great ideas, I may do more than one dessert!
