We will be arriving in Orlando late on May 17th. There was no availability at the Polynesian until the 18th so we need a place to stay for one night... more like 8 hours :)

Any suggestions for a inexpensive room that is semi-near WDW?

The Hotel Royal Plaza is nice and located in Downtown Disney, rate per night is around $70. Check mousesavers.com for more on this hotel. At mousesavers, click on DisneyWorld and go to Non-Disney hotels, then Downtown Disney. Also Hampton Inn on International Drive. You can get a room there for about $49 a night at orlandodiscountrooms.com I'm sure someone will add to this, there are so many hotels between the airport and WDW.

I won a bid of 45.00 for the Renaissance World gate which is located right near the AKL. I've heard of people getting a rate of 35.00 there on priceline. The Hotels rack rates are 130-180.

You might want to check out this board for tips and bid amounts people have gotten accepted. If your bid is accepted on priceline your credit card is charged immediately but it's worth it to get the low rate.

It would be a bit more expensive ($99), but how about one of the All-Star Resorts for the one night? The main advantage is that WDW would move your luggage over to the Polynesian from the All-Stars, so you can enjoy the day and check-in at your convenience. Perhaps more importantly, since it's in WDW you can't get much closer than that, and since it's a Disney resort no concerns about the quality of the room you're getting.

My second choice would be something in Hotel Plaza, probably the Royal Plaza.

Have a great trip.

Hi, I was just at Disney world a couple of weeks ago and arrived late too 11pm. So I booked a room at the Comfort Inn-Lake Buena Vista ($32 AAA price) and it was very clean, had beautiful gardens and they were very nice, no problems with check-in. They are located 5 mins from the end gate of Disney (by downtown disney). I will definitely stay there again if I had to do it. I booked that price in advance of about two months on their website.

Hope this helps.
