Hi!

My son is trying to come up with a topic for his history fair. The topic is Conflict & Comprimise. It cam be from any era from any country.

I was trying to come up with some ideas, but couldn't think of much. I knew you guys on the DIS would have some ideas.

Any suggestions?

The best one, with the most ifo, I can think of is the Constitutional Convention where the US Constitution was written. It's full of conflict and compromise!

I'm a big fan of WWII history, and when I teach it, I like to spend time on the conferences with the Big Three (Roosevelt/Stalin/Churchill & their replacements) during and after the war. Each had a very specific agenda, and it's really interesting how the conflicts they have during the war seem to be resolved through compromise, however, created lasting tensions that lead into the Cold War. The 3 conferences I think would be good to look at are:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tehran_Conference
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yalta_conference

(don't use wikipedia as a source though :) Just use it as a starting point/overview :lmao: )

The Missouri Compromise, which delayed the Civil War and led to "Bloody Kansas" and John Brown's first attempt at utter lunacy.

Or the Cuban Missle Crisis. That was a good one too.

ahhh yes national history day, we will be doing the same thing here.

Last year was interesting. This year sounds much better.
