We will be at Disney during Halloween and have tickets for the not so scary party. We will have 2 boys, ages 7 and 6 with us , and also a girl, age 7. Any ideas for good costumes? We'd like to try and do some rides that night.

Are there any great, inexpensive costumes you have seen there that would be easy for that age group?

Some of my costumes from when I was younger include a smiley face pumpkin and a pirate. One year my brother was a ninja turtle.

To make the pumpkin to you take orange material, sew it at the top with elastic while sinching the material, and do the same at the bottom. Sew on the eyes, nose, and mouth. You can add green pompoms for additional decor.

The pirate I wore black pants, a white and black striped shirt, and a patch over my eye. I also think I had an aluminum foil sword.

The ninja turtle was really neat. Green sweat suit- material bandanas around the head with eye holes cut out, arms and legs. Purple-Donatello, Orange-Michealangelo, Red- Raphael, and Blue-Leonardo. For my brother I think he had nunchucks (Donatello) made out of painted toilet paper rolls. The turtles need a shell too. You can make one like a pillow, or attach something to a backpack that comes off easily for rides.

Of course there's the traditional princess. You can get neat tiara's off of ebay for 10 dollars.

Here's another idea for either the girl or the boys... a rock star..

Get a toy guitar with a should strap, wear trendy clothes, spike the hair and get that temporary hair spray paint to color the hair different colors.

They have inexpensive princess costumes at Target or Walmart for $20. I usually have my mom sew costumes for my kids each year.

Last year at MNSSHP my daughter was Tiger Lily. I found an inexpensive indian maiden costume. I jazzed it up with beads and feathers. Braided her hair and added feathers. She wore moccassins. She was very comfortable. I do suggest that you have a way to make a warm costume, cooler and a cool costume, warmer. The weather is so iffy. I took an indian print shawl for if it got cool. I also could add tights if needed. My daughter loved that she helped make her costume too.

Two years ago, my DS went as a fastpass and my DD went as the boss' wife, aka Minnie Mouse. For the fastpass, I found one online and drew it onto fun foam. It packed light and was easy to pin onto his shirt. The CMs went ga ga for him. They said they'd never seen anyone dressed as a fastpass before. And, look at it this way, where else could you ever pull that off as a costume?

Do A theme like Toy story, Your son's could be either buzz or woody and your daughter little bo peep.

Last MNSSHP we did:

DD5 - Tink
DS7 - Peter Pan
DS 10 - Captain Hook
DH - Mr. Smee
myself - Wendy

We bought the PP and CH outfits at Disney Store. Tink was a hand-me-down. I painted stripes on a white Tshirt for Mr. Smee and he had a red bandana. I wore a blue nightgown from Wal-Mart for my Wendy costume. We obviously had more $ in the PP and CH outfits than we wanted to, but it sure looked cute!!!
