My husband's parents are treating the whole family to a week at WDW next year, end of Sept. This will be our second time there but my my brother in law, his wife, and 2 girls (6 & 9) will be there for the first time. I was thinking of making up a Disney box for them, with a kid's guidebook, maps, and other little fun things. When would be better to give it to them? For Christmas this year or wait until their birthdays next year (May/June)? I'm leaning towards birthdays next year so they can read and plan throughout the summer.

Also, any ideas of things I can get for the adults? A guidebook, anything else?

I would do the birthdays because it's closer to their trip. In December of this year the trip will still be pretty far away. It's a sweet idea!

That's what I'm thinking too, it would seem like forever at their ages!

Their birthdays are far enough out from the trip that plans (FPs and even ADRs) can be adjusted if they fall in love with something in guidebooks that's completely out of left field.

Birthday should be perfect. 3 months out is usually a good time to start doing a count down.

A paid subscription to touring plans could make a nice, useful, and reasonably priced gift.

For the adults - not sure if everyone would do this but when we go with a large group we wear matching shirts. We usually make tie dye mickey shirts for everyone. Or you can buy them. Another gift would be Mickey ears. My husband likes baseball caps so we got him a baseball cap mickey ears hat. Enjoy your trip.
