We are traveling to WDW in January. We have never been during that time. What do you like to do at night when the parks close?

YeeHa bob at the river roost in Port Orleans. Great show and basically free (besides the drinks and appetizers)

Splitsville at DTD. Bowling is always fun, but their food is really good, so if you can hold out for dinner, it's a great, relaxing combination. Never thought I'd go to WDW and end up bowling, but now that we've done it once, we're definitely going to do it again sometime.

There are live shows you can do like Cirque, but it requires extra monies. Many like to do miniature golf. There's Disney Quest, too. Take in a movie. You can do a swim in the hotel pool for free.

My best suggestion if you are not already doing it is to go to bed early and get to the parks earlier and therefore enjoy more park hours. You will have a longer day and it won't really cost more; you already have a park ticket.

You can visit other resorts and have some dinners there instead of eating at the parks. You can shop at Downtown Disney.

Head over to the boardwalk area--enjoy the magician/juggler, play carnival games, check out Beaches and Cream (which may require a reservation if you want to be seated inside.) Enjoy a funnel cake or something yummy from the bakery. Make a dinner reservation in one of the restaurants. Check out Jelly Rolls.

Visit some of the other resorts. Take a trip to all the hotels on the monorail loop. Have a nice meal at one of them.

See what your resort has to offer. Some have movies on the beach.

Enjoy your vacation.

When in January are you going? First week of January will be busy, and if it is any thing like our 2013 trip(1st-6th), park hours may be extended. We closed the MK multiple nights @ 0200. Have also gone Late January too. Much nicer crowd levels. Evening activities: DTD.dips in the bath-warm pool :). participating in the fun withYeeHawBob,,@ POR.

The parks close earlier in January?
They tend to because of lower crowds. By closing earlier that mean like not the midnight or later times seen in the summer. In January the parks are open anywhere from 7-11pm except for AK which tends to close at 5pm. Park hours can always change tho depending on crowds.

The shorter park hours gave us an opportunity to rest, enjoy longer dinner shows, explore the Disney Boardwalk, etc. I'd recommend going to see the later showing of Hoop Dee Doo Revue. Also, you can add park hopper and go to a park that has later hours since most days have one park open later.

Because the crowds are so much less, we actually got a lot more done with the shorter hours than our trip in mid-July. I thought I'd hate the 5pm close at AK (for example), but it was actually quite nice! It prevented me from having that inner struggle between non-park fun and park fun.
