I am in charge of our hospitality room for a large Wrestling Tournie being held at our school . I just found out that I have to feed 150 men for 2 days . 1 Breakfast meal, 1 Lunch meal , and 2 Dinner meals . Anyone have any idea on things that will taste good being over "Sterno" for hours on end.
Thanks for any and all help

LOL, I was going to suggest maps to the various take out restaurants. :teeth:

Good grief! Sounds like a monumental task!

Can you do cold cuts for lunch?

Meatballs and sausage... baked ziti

breakfast seems like the biggest challenge.

stew for dinner
soup and sandwiches for lunch
biscuits and gravy for breakfast

Macaroni and cheese is good and it holds up well. Breakfast I would just do donuts, bagels, danish etc.

I thought about Krispy Kreme , cold cereal, fruit, and maybe some breakfast burritos for breakfast . They say I have to have choices for everyone . I say Cheerios for all LOL!

Thanks keep the ideas coming

let me tell you what us men like

Breakfast - cold pizza

Lunch- pizza

Dinner - pizza with salad (want to eat healthy)

Every year we do a big New Year's Eve party for over 1000 people at the bar I work at. For breakfast in the AM we do breakfast burritos or scrambled eggs. Also a lot of sausage links and bacon. Rolls and such.

I would also see about getting donations from local vendors for donuts and bagels and such.

I've done Vacation Bible School for all ages several times. Let's see if I can remember some of the things we made.

Sloppy Joes - hold up well and go a long way

Ziti / mac and cheese - easy and most people like them

Hot dogs w/ chili and cheese - again easy

Cold cuts/cheeses w/ rolls - let them build their own sandwiches

Biscuits w/ sausage or bacon and omelets cut in squares as filling

You might check out www.recipegoldmine.com . They have a page on cooking for a crowd. You might get an idea from the recipes you find there.

For b/fast - scrambled eggs, cold cereal, oatmeal packets that they add hot water too, various breakfast breads, if you can swing it, some bacon or sausage. (The eggs & meat would be easy to do in electric frying pans.)

Lunch - Chili or stew; bread; couple of cold salads; trays of cold cuts & cheeses so they can make their own sandwiches; cookies/brownies/cupcakes - or maybe order a couple of 6 foot wedges;

Dinner - Baked ziti (could do one w/ meat & i without; garlic bread & italian bread; salad; eggplant parm (generally not to expensive to order from a deli); (Italian stuff); cookies/brownies, etc for dessert.

A big GOLD MEDAL for you!!!!

Breakfast- Bagels, cream cheese, oranges bananas, easy stuff. They probably won't eat much right before wrestling.

Lunch- Sloppy Joes, Bar-be-que Beef, hot dogs. With chips and more fruit.

Dinner- Pans of Lasagna, Salad, bread and beverage.

I don't know how much help you are going to get but you can buy lots of stuff to feed a crowd at Gordon's Foods.

One thing to think about, is there anything that wrestler's won't eat before competing. For instance I know that runner's don't want to consume dairy, it cramps them up. They also want to carbo load before a meet. Nothing sweet. And our coach does not want them to drink carbonated beverages.

Just things to think about.

Chili is always a good lunch with rolls.
Pasta and meatballs are a good dinner with some salad and bread. Stew is also a good dinner.
Cereal, donuts, muffins, coffee and juice would be enough for breakfast. You could have bananas, too.

1st you need to find out what kinds of food wrestlers can have during a competition. Aren't their diets restricted if they are trying to stay under a certain weight. You may have to serve some skinless chicken breasts and broccoli! Some athletes may need alot of carbs. Good Luck.

In college we ran a speech tournament every year, we had close to 500 people we fed between Friday late afternoon and Saturday night. We made it work with a team of about 5 of us dedicated, and a few shift helpers.

Friday afternoon - We did barbecue beef sandwiches with the meat on the heater. We had rolls, pickles, onions and extra sauce on the side. We had fresh veggie trays and chips (potato and tortilla) on another table. That table we kept stocked until about 10:00 that night. The sandwich table we ran for about 2 hours, which was enough time that anyone who was going to eat could, then we put out cookies, juice boxes (we didn't do carbonated drinks - bad when you are going to be speaking!) and water bottles.

Saturday breakfast we did breakfast casseroles, which we cooked and then put in disposable trays. We had an oven we could use to heat about 4 at a time, and they only needed to bake for about 10 minutes, we got two sets done, and then started serving. We then baked 4 more continually and had hot ones coming out every 10 minutes, again for about 2 hours. Our other table had hot water with cocoa mix and tea, oatmeal packets, bagels and cream cheese and whole pieces of fruit, along with our juice boxes and water.

For lunch we did hot dogs which we kept warm in large crock pots, and had chili and Fritos too. They could do hot dog with chips, chili dogs or Frito pie. We bought big bags of grated cheddar cheese at Sams Club, and put out onions, catsup and mustard, along with pickles. More fresh fruit along with the same drinks.

For dinner we called Olive Garden, got big trays of salad and lasagne, and penne in alfredo sauce with breadsticks. More fruit and drinks, and we put out monster size cookies, because that toward the end of dinner everyone was pretty much finished with competition, there were only a very few still going, and then our awards presentation.

We didn't sleep much Friday night, but it was well worth the thanks and praises we received. Everyone was very grateful and appreciative.

You stole my answer.:p Pizza is good no matter what meal it's for.:)

Thanks everyone ! I really need the ideas, We are feeding coaches only . Wrestlers wont eat much before they compete. The boys will eat from a seperate room.

I was wondering if the Lasagna would hold up under sterno.
The lady who did it last year said that the Sloppy Joes went over really well.So that will bea go for sure !
