Ideas for Family Fun on New Years Eve

This is our first time traveling to Disney in December . I am wondering if anyone has any tips about activites for families with children who are 6 and 7? I am particularly thinking of New Years Eve . Rumor has that on new years eve parks are crowded and we should expect to stay the whole day because they reach capacity fast. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I am going to give this a bump because we are going to be there on NYE with kids also. We are looking to go to Epcot.

This is a bit of a lame suggestion, but it's what we did, so here goes. We went to bed EARLY! Then, we got up and went to the parks on New Years Day, and there were hardly any people there, since everyone else was still sleeping from the night before. Like I said, it's lame, but it worked for us!

We have done NYE at the parks twice and it was great, I loved it! BUT it was just a group of 20 somethings, no kids. Once we did MGM, once we did MK. You are correct, you must get there early and stay alllllll day. Both times we had a period of downtime in the evening, after dinner, no fastpasses, lines super duper long, so we ended up playing cards. Bring something to do for that downtime. Make ADR's for lunch and dinner to help kill time. Maximize fastpasses and have fun! Epcot has alcohol so you may encounter some drunk folk. MGM was good because of fantasmic, we had to wait for it and then see it, plus they had fireworks at midnight. MK has the parade and tons of rides/shows.
