Hi,

My DH and I find that each time we go back to WDW we spend less time in the 4 main parks and more time enjoying other things such as the Water Parks, mini golf, Disney Quest, Cirque etc.
We love staying in Disney Hotels, soaking up the atmosphere and dipping in and out of the parks, but they are no longer our major focus.
Last year we took a helicopter trip over Sea World and Universal which was fabulous (if a little scary!)
This time I am considering the Balloon Flight over WDW - has anyone tried it?
I'm pretty sure that Typhoon Lagoon will be closed for rehab whilst we are there. We love the cold water shark reef at TL so, to get a snorkelling fix, I am considering Discovery Cove. Has anyone got any other snorkelling recommendations? I have read about Egmont Key and that sounds nice.

Does anyone have any other ideas for us to try?
Thanks,
:Pinkbounc :bounce:

Egmonst Key is fantastic, Sam. I wrote up all about it on a thread within the last couple of weeks. If you can't find it, PM me and I'll give you any info you need.

The most important one is the name of the guys who run the boat charter - Captain Bill's Destiny Yacht Charters Inc, out of Tierra Verde Hi and Dry Marina, 100 Pinellas Bayway, St Pete Beach (sorry, my info does not have phone number). Couldn't recommend these guys enough.

We have been on two trips with them - the first was a dolphin sailing on board the Destiny yacht which took us out to Shell Island off St Pete Beach (half a day trip, take a picnic). Saw mum and babe dolphins swimming alongside us - truly magical.

The following year we did their motor launch snorkelling trip to Egmont Key - again half a day trip (more picnic needed!) - it was SUPERB.

We picked them up via the Virgin Rep when we were at St Pete's Beach the first time. What a find :).

Did I say I liked them;) :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Thanks Annie - I think that it must have been in your post that I read about Egmont Key - will def find out more about that.

I see that you are also staying at AKL and HRH - I can't wait - this will be my first time in both hotels.

I hope that you have a lovely time.:D

Depending on the time of year you go, snorkling with manatees at Crystal River might be an option, I believe Nov-March is the best time of year to try this

how about a 3or 4 night disney cruise we have been to orlando 7 times and its great but there is somthing very special about a disney cruise elz

I second Mrs Dazzle's opinion.

Just returned from Florida (yesterday morning) and am trying to climb out of my post Disney depression...

Our condo is a mile away from Tierra Verde Marina - we always stop there on the first night to pick up essential provisions.

If you keep going past Tierra Verde you will come to Fort De Soto - a really beautiful beach and so peaceful.

You are staying at AKL? We extended our stay in Orlando by one night and stayed there. You will love it. It is, IMHO, simply the best themed hotel. Mmmm, Mud Slide cocktails by the pool... Damn, why did I have to come home

Thanks for the info GO2209.

Glad you had a great time, I am getting very excited (as ever)
