OK. My boss just gave me a neat assignment. (I work as a travel writer) To review various character meals on our upcoming trip to WDW! :cool1:

I can pick whatever ones I want. I have only eaten at two so far....Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey both for breakfast. I loooove CP!!!!! :lovestruc CM...meh.

So....I'm coming up with ideas on places to eat. So far I have the Akershus Princess breaky Sept. 30 at 8:30 a.m. and Crystal Palace at 10:15 a.m. on the 29th.

I'm looking at:

CRT
Donald's
Cape May
Garden Grill?
Maybe Chef Mickey for dinner....Kenny wants to try it.

Ideas? Suggestions?

I would really like more info on Garden Grill.
It seems very unique.

1. rotating restaurant that overlooks into the living with the land attraction.
2. some of the meal comes from that attraction.
3. it's family style instead of buffet.

I rarely see much about it, but it seems like one of the more appealing options to me.

We will be there next week with me (44), DH (41), DS and DD (twins turning 8 during our trip).

In addition to Chef Mickey and Crystal Palace, we are trying 1900 Park Fare (Breakfast, but the also have Dinner with different characters) and Ohana's for Breakfast.

Both have gotten pretty good reviews on this board.

Happy dining.

Only because it is one of our favorite character meals, I would say Cape May Cafe. It gets such rave reviews here on the boards (I being one of the ones that raves about it :goodvibes). Another good one is Garden Grill, not too many people know too much about it. Sounds like a very fun project you will be doing :)

1900 Park Fare Dinner was a favorite of ours. The Step-Sisters were very funny.

Or perhaps the Tusker House in Animal Kingdom for Mickey's Safari Breakfast. It is the only character meal with Daisy and the food was very good but we did have a terrible wait.

we have eaten at all the character meals and if you can do it the Grand Gathering Tony's Good Morning Breakfast is the best one. Maybe you can get in if you tell them you are reviewing it?

If not Tusker House is fantastic and of course you have to review Cinderellas Royal Table. This is not my favorite but I couldnt imagine a review of character dining that didnt include this meal

We also like Cape May, Garden Grill and Ohana's.

Thank you for all your responses! I do take other peoples ideas into consideration when I write articles! :dance3::surfweb:

I'm doing up to four or five character meals. Too many more andhubby's head would explode.

I'm planning on:

CRT
Akershus
CP (If I don't do CP at least once, I might as well not even go. lol.)
Chef Mickey
Ohana
I may see if I can get GG....it's full up about every nite! If not, I may do 1900 in the morning.

I'm also doing up to three sig meals for another article I'm working on. I have Cali Grill right now at 9:10 p.m. Looking to add maybe Citricos or maybe Yachtsman.

The character meals that have been our favs, in no particular order, are:

CP (breakfast)
Akershus (breakfast)
Ohana
Tusker House
Garden Grill

We would eat at all of these places again.:thumbsup2 We have also tried CRT (dinner), H&V, CM (breakfast and dinner), and 1900 PF (dinner), and are in no rush to get back to any of them. CRT's food was good but too pricey; I think it's a must-do experience once though so you could say that you ate in the castle. The food at the other three were bleh.

Good luck.:goodvibes

Ok...I'll say it (cause I know everyone else is thinking it!:goodvibes) Where do I sign up for a gig like this?!?! :worship: Good on ya! :thumbsup2

It took years of writing. I graduated from my dream school that I worked so hard to get into in 2002 and two months later in 2003.....

fell down two steps onto pure concrete, crushing my tibia femur bone in my lower right leg. :sad2: I have a permanent walking problem now because of it. Luckily I CAN walk.....many with this injury lose their leg. Upwards of 70%. :scared1: I was the 30% that didn't.

I started working at home because I can't do anything else. lol. That's what led me to what I do now. I kind of do what Samantha Brown does if you've ever seen her show, only without a camera crew....just little old me and sometimes my hubby. I don't get free trips. I get the same discounts as everyone else. I just looove what I do and I couldn't imagine doing anything else.

So if you ever see a girl out at Disney with shoulder-length wild red hair (that's my trademark.....Ariel Red) and a camera attached permanently to her hand who looks like my avatar....say hi!

The DF and I have some favorties...

Chef Mickey's- was great for the chracters, I did not like the dinner food but everyone else in the party did...:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Garden Grill- The Characters were awesome, hung around the table for a good couple minutes for pics and play. Food was great, and the turning round restaurant was great-had a scene in it that was cool to look at.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

CRT- was great too, alot of interaction, the food well just say I ate off the kids menu...But it was a real fun experience for us.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Whisperin Canyon cafe'- not CD but was real fun for all the kids that were there when we went , and the food was not bad at all(ask for ketchup):thumbsup2:

1900 Park Fare was our favorite character interaction in Dec. The step sisters screaming at each other the entire time was quite entertaining! :lmao:

Chef Mickeys
CRT
Crystal Palace dinner
are our 3 other favorites.

That's so funny about Garden Grill being full-you never hear much about it really, but it must be good (I am planning on going in December for the first time!)

CRT is great-we did it for dinner on our honeymoon-if you have never done it you are in for a treat-the food is great, and if its just the 2 of you, there is only 1-2 person table and it is in the middle by the window with the best view! my hubby still raves about their prime rib...

I also am a HUGE CP fan...couldn't get in last time, gonna keep my fingers crossed for this time!

Are you looking to do just character meals or also other buffets-I have been thinking about trying Boma, from what I have read it seems different and worth a try

for the person who was wondering about Boma... I LOVE this place.. I have been raving about it since 2004. One of the absolute BEST seafood stews I have ever eaten in my life. I once searched furiously for the recipe, but in the end, knew I would never recreate it with that special Disney 'something'. The meats and such are good, but ohhhh.. that seafood stew...and one of the most amazing dessert tables you'll see at any buffet in the world.. mmmmmm.. :drinking1
