Ideas for character dress up day for a teacher?

One year I completely scribbled all over a pair of old pants, socks, gloves and a turtle neck with permanent marker. (It took awhile, but since it was scribbling, you could easily do it while watching tv) My character was the little girl from Robert Munsch's "Purple, Green, Yellow" book.

Also, you can wear khaki pants & a khaki top. Stick letters all over you (safety pin, glue, whatever). Go to the store and buy a cheap hat and some palm type leaves. Fasten these to the hat. Now you're a Chicka-Chicka-Boom-Boom tree! The best part is that you can buy a coconut cup & carry a drink around in it all day. :)

The teachers at my DS10's elementary school dress up as characters for Halloween. One year, the kindergarten teacher was the old lady who swallowed a fly. She wore a gray wig, and had Beanie Baby animals from the song pinned to her clothing. Last year, all of the teachers were "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs"....they carried umbrellas which were decorated with pictures of food, and had meatballs (crumbled brown tissue paper) and clouds (fluffs of batting) hanging from the spines of the umbrella. Of course, one year everyone was the Cat in the Hat. I can't think of anymore...

Waldo from Where's Waldo.

Red and white striped shirt, blue pants, red/white stocking cap and big round glasses.

That was what the staff at my DS8 school dressed up like for the Halloween parade.

Hmmm.... lots of good ideas. I don't have a lot of money for dresses and props though. I am thinking about Skippyjon Jones---black leggings ang long sleeve shirt with tan shirt and shorts over them, homemade large ears attached to a headband and face paint whiskers and nose. I'd probably add the cape and mask as well. It's either that, Cat in the Hat, or Strega Nona(can get an old lady dress at the thrift shop)

This may not be the greatest, but kids love it... How about SpongeBob? You could use two sheets of yellow poster board for the sponge.

They'd love it, but I definitely couldn't teach in that, LOL

This is from my dd's kindergarten Whoville Party. The teacher was the Grinch. Pretty easy costumes and the kids loved it.

Dr Seuss's bday is March 2, so I say something Dr Seuss is in order!
