Hey, we ready for our first trip to DLR and want to thank everyone for the great tips on this board!!!:yay:

We have access to early entry at 7am during our stay, but we are at the PPH and don't see any place to get a very early breakfast!

Do any of you wonderful DIS'ers have ideas for us!! Once I get into the park, I don't want to waste time finding food for the DD6 and DH!

Thankyou!!:cheer2:

We are just going to eat breakfast in our room. We're going grocery shopping the first day we get there and are buying those little cereal boxes with small milk cartons, oatmeal, muffins or danishes, and fruit.

Then, we'll either have an early lunch or stop in at the Riverbelle Terrace for Mickey pancakes or another small breakfast item somewhere else.

As we are flying trans atlantic we can't bring our own food so we are planning to get a room service breakfast on our magical morning days.

If you don't have a car there are grocery services that deliver to the resorts. I do not have the exact information but am sure someone else here can post it.

You can order groceries to be delivered from Albertson's or Vons. There's been a few people lately who said they had problems with Vons, but Albertson's worked very well for us.

You order online; I think you can order up to 2 weeks ahead. You put the hotel's address for delivery, and your own address on the credit card payment. You can order very specific brands, size, amounts... i.e. 2 bananas, 4 apples, one carton blueberry yogurt, 2 cartons strawberry yogurt, etc. If you have a club card for the store, you put in the number and receive the same sale prices as if you were shopping in the store. The cost for Albertson's is $9.95, no minimum order needed. I think Vons might require a $50 minimum. I've seen coupons to waive the delivery fee for first timers, but not lately.

Your hotel will have a dorm-sized fridge. In our room at GCH, we ordered a gallon of milk, a half gallon carton of juice, soymilk, yogurt, a rack of bottled water, fruit, pop tarts, cereal cups-to-go, a roll of paper towels, and a small box of plastic spoons.

The store will deliver within a 1-1/2 hour window of time. If you time it right around your expected arrival for check in, the bell desk will hold it for you. We were worried about the cold stuff, but it was packed very tightly in a cardboard box, and was just fine, even though we were about an hour late because of flight delays.

It would be good to call Guest services at the hotel and let them know you've got groceries coming, and what time.

Hope that helps!

We did room service... filled out the little card the night before and marked what time we wanted breakfast... they brought it right on time (we were at the GCH, but I am sure the PPH would have the same!)

Yes, they do the same--the only problem is that the first "window" to get breakfast is 6:00 to 6:30 . . . . so even though it may be there at 6 a.m. it also may not get there until 6:30 a.m. . . . . which doesn't leave alot of time to get to the gates and line up for 7 a.m. opening.

I echo getting a grocery delivery and eating something light in the room--then hit MM, and around 10 a.m. go to RiverBelle or Carnation Cafe.

You could also send one person on a McD's run or something early. If you have someone athletic and fast. ;)

What about picking up some fruit or sandwiches or whatever the night before (from the parks or DTD) and putting it in the fridge?

The good thing about a sandwich or wrap is that you can eat it while walking or waiting at security.

Did they change this? Is this the "start time" for all the Disneyland Properties?

This is off our Disneyland Hotel room service (express) door hanger...
hours:
5:00am/5:30am
5:30am/6:00am
on down untill 11:00am
But this hanger is one or two years old...so it has changed?? Nnoooo!
I was counting on room service for breakfast before MM...JC

:) Thank you all for the great ideas! Now I feel like I actually have some alternatives!

You folks are really great!!!!

Depending on the length of your stay, a grocery delivery may not be cost effective (you need to order a certain amount to get free delivery). We brought granola bars and packaged mini-muffins packed in our suitcases or purchased bakery items the night before. We would also take munchies in our backpacks since breakfast was early and not substantial. You're out of luck if you need drinkable coffee. The hotel bars which start serving coffee at 6 am (at GCH anyways) had a long line formed by the time they opened. The in-room coffee is truly horrible.

Albertson's doesn't have a minimum delivery amount; I believe you have to hit $50 at Vons. The cost is $9.95 (unless you can find some coupons online; I've heard of some but haven't found them). However, since we were there for 5 days, it was worth it to us because we ordered a 24 case of bottled water for less than $5. Considering that it cost $3. per bottle everywhere in the resort, we saved well over the cost of that delivery with just the water, even aside from the food.

The tap water is truly horrible. I don't like the plastic waste of bottled water, but it was necessary for us-- I could barely brush my teeth with the tap water in the hotels. This may be why the coffee is so bad when you make it in the room! It would probably help to bring a baggie of good coffee with you, and use bottled water in the coffee maker.

It differs from hotel to hotel:

DLH: 600-2400 or 1 hour after DL Park Closing
GCH: 24 Hours
PPH: 600-1100, 1700-2300 or 1 hour after DL Park Closing

With regards to the OP, the Surfside Lounge in the PPH Lobby will be open from 600 serving Specialty Coffees and Baked Treats. Maybe just grab something and go?

BTW, when we stayed at the GCH and at DLH (come to think of it), I circled the 1st time in the window (the window was 7-7:30 and I circled the 7--really obviously), and they always came exactly at 7 am... maybe we just got lucky! But we got room service like 4 times and it worked each time!
