ideas for birthday surprise needed

DH will be 46 shortly and I was trying to think of something special for when we come to the US, instead of buying him yet another tool box!

We will be staying in Aneheim for 1 week and San D for the other.

A few years ago, I bought a balloon trip for his brithday for when we went to WDW, and he loved this.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a surprise for his birthday for LA or SD.

I've been looking at the Bi planes, balloon trips, and helicopter rides, but there could be other adventure things out there too.

In the San Diego area you might check out para-gliding at the Torrey Pines Gliderport. I have not done this personally but have a friend who did. Not sure of the cost but may be worth looking in to. Web site... flytorrey.com

I second Gypsy Gal's reccomendation. I have also never done this but DH's cousin and her boyfriend do this every chance they get (they are SD locals) and they say it is an amazing feeling when you float trough the air.

Thanks for the replies.

In the end I got him an apple Ipod, so that he can listern to music on the 10flight we have from the UK. It has wi-fi and maps too, so should come in useful, for when we get lost. All I need now is buy a sat-nav and he has all the latest gadgets.

If the exchange rate improves, then I am going to book a bi-plane trip for him and DS.
