How many times I've seen someone make a "candy poster" using various candy for a birthday wish and have really never paid attention....now I am sorry because I am going to a 40th bday party and it was requested that no gifts are brought, but would like to do something fun and relatively inexpensive...
Does anyone have a resource for the idea? (You know, I wish for you 100 Grand, etc...) If anyone will, you guys will!
Thanks so much!! :)

What works for me is to go to the candy isle and write down the names of candy bars. Then I can be thinking about them. Also go to the dollar store. They have unique brands that you can work with better than your standard ones. Like Zero, Rocky Road, Charms...

cracker barrel has a wonderful assortment of unusual candy that could maybe give you some ideas.

I have done this before and used:

Snickers (laughs)
Hot Tamales
Nerds
100 Grand
Kisses
Big Hunk
Now and Later
Air Heads
Zero
Payday

That's about all I remember??? Occasionally I would have to cover up an "s" on a candy to make it flow.

Good luck!

what a NEAT idea.....it would be cool to get one and give one especially to that person who has everything..Please post pics of the finished project!!! I would love to see what you come up with!!

Ok...one kid to bed, another to go but I somehow managed to find a photo that I took of one of these posters that I did over 10 years ago in college.
Here is what mine said. I will put the candy bars I used in quotations.

I was trying to decide what to get you for your birthday and I thought about getting you a "whatchamacallit" from "5th Avenue" but I didnt have the "100Grand".
So I thought maybe I'd take you on a trip through the "MilkyWay" and maybe we'd see a "Starburst", but I remembered that "M and M" wouldnt be there and I didnt think you'd want to take a trip without them.
I needed some help so I asked the "3 Musketeers" and they suggested I take you to "Hershey" park but its closed. So, I'll just wish you a happy birthday and hope its a good one!

HOPE THIS HELPS!!!

Cute, kmk!

I was going to suggest that Kudos granola bars could be a good addition to something like this!
